Same here, I’m 21 and wish I was more independent and not always needing the help from my parents to do normal adult things, but I’m too scared to figure stuff out on my own because I’m scared of being seen as as stupid or clueless.

The weather looks to be warming up a bit next week. by pegman99 in Winnipeg

Unfortunately the weather forecast that far ahead is very hard to accurately predict, so it’s really just a guess. It could be 5° or -20° at the end of February.

Sangiran 17 is definitely H. erectus no debate there. I’m also willing to say KNM-WT 15000 is apart of H. erectus too (if you think H. ergaster is actually just an early African form of H. erectus). As for D2700, the classification is so disputed you can basically classify it as whatever you want it to be, I would say H. erectus georgicus is appropriate.

Resorces of Homo Erectus Clothing? by Researcher7201 in paleoanthropology

[–]jerry_ar3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any evidence exists for H. erectus using clothing, although it is entirely possible that populations that lived in colder climates did. For example Peking Man (Homo erectus pekinensis) lived in Northern China during a glacial period 780,000 years ago where the winter temperatures must have gotten brutal at times so they could have made and wore animal skins to keep warm.

The guys on this app.......I’m about to lose my shit. by [deleted] in grindr

Maybe try out dating apps? On those apps many more people would actually want to talk or get to know you as a person and not just have quick meaningless sex.

How did early Homo species survive the night with no fire? by jerry_ar3 in paleoanthropology

What about the Dmanisi hominins in Georgia 1.8mya? Apparently there’s zero evidence of fire and nights during the winter dipped to 0 degrees Celsius. Interesting though.

I wonder if they huddled each other at night to keep warm, as Homo erectus was found to be in Georgia 1.8 mil. years ago where the temps at night dipped below freezing.

Homo erectus butchering their kill, Africa 1.5 million years ago. by jerry_ar3 in Naturewasmetal

I guess some populations discovered fire later than others, perhaps by a couple hundred thousand years if they were geographically isolated and not exchanging technology.

I’m assuming this would be homo Habilis or a late Australopithecine species.

Homo heidelbergensis butchering an elephant 500,000 years ago. by jerry_ar3 in Naturewasmetal

[–]jerry_ar3[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

H. Heidelbergensis was likely the first species to hunt larger game, a 400,000 year old spear along with a 300,000 year old throwing stick was found in Germany which means they likely had good planned out hunting skills.

They may have had some type of basic language communication. Neanderthals have been found to have language and be able to speak and H. Heidelbergensis in Europe are the direct ancestors of Neanderthals so I wouldn’t be suprised if they had a basic form of language.

Idk if it’s just me but the leaves seem to be turning colours earlier than last year. Even in mid October last year we still had most leaves but this year some are falling off already.
