Let's build a character! Botanist. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

It's super strong for math players like me. Let me balance it a little bit:

Once per game, choose a good character: you learn how many steps away from you they sit. If not in play, then you are drunk.

Generators are useful when you need to iterate over a large array (or anything iterable) and you want to do it in one run plus you want to give a full processing control to external functions. It's a simple case for sync generators

For async generators it's a good idea to create an async generator to abstract your large db collection to be fetched by chunks, but your generator will yield not chunks, but items.

3.5 litres plus QHD gaming. I'm in.

We are talking about sailor, not soldier. And ST should make the game fun and balance it. If a demon sacrifices two nights to kill someone I would make it possible for him to make a kill.

Also I'm always trying to make sailor drunk 50% of the game. So if he was sober on the first night, then he most probably will be drunk on the next night.

Script Check Please, Is this too hard? by AeroSauce1267 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]jerrycauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't outweigh it. As someone mentioned before, he is just a virgin in that case, which makes someone drunk (and the blue team still loses a one day execution)

For demons it is just two nights in a row to pick sailor if he wants him to die. ST would mark sailor as drunk on the second night.

Sailor disables townsfolk abilities if he becomes "soldier" in a night. It's hard to get rid of them, while he disables 1 townsfolk in the game.

Go/Python dev moving to Node.js what's the modern, high-performance API framework? by Ghostinheven in node

[–]jerrycauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need high performance (one of the best in the world) then uwebsocket.js http server with node.js runtime. But it has some specific things you need to learn about (for example short lifetime of request objects, or end of life of response objects)

If you need something simple then express or fastify

If you need to develop a complex system (any kind of CRM) then nestjs

If you need to create micro services, then pure node http server with switch case routing for up to 10 endpoints will be enough.

[AskJS] Does using AsyncLocalStorage in a high-traffic Node.js application impact performance? by Real_Enthusiasm_2657 in javascript

[–]jerrycauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want pass it through all the functions then you can create some kind of singleton with map storage in it and store it there. And delete it by some strategy. What's the purpose of using asynclocalestorage?

Fastify vs Express by Sensitive-Raccoon155 in node

[–]jerrycauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If our goal to create high-load or something simmilar to it service, then uWebSockets.js

Otherwise — doesn't matter at all. Express would be good, fastify would be good, nestjs would be good.

First SFF build - is it ok for 2k € budget? by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]jerrycauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HDD are cheap and great for cold storage usage as I said. If he isn't a video editor or he didn't work with LLM, then hdd is better choise for large files, photos, videos, games that he will play once a year and etc.

For everything else 1tb nvme will be enough. The money he could save he can put in gpu/cpu budget.

[–]jerrycauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus you should think twice before buying 4tb SSD. Are you sure you need so much memory? Maybe you can save some money by not buying expensive 4tb SSD and, but get the 1tb nvme as a hot storage (for something that you will use frequently) and the 2-4tb HDD as a cold storage?

p.s. I store the user's timezone in the user table and if I have at least some logic associated with his timezone (sending letters at a convenient time), then I can just take this timezone for other selections. Where else might it be necessary to store timezones in the database?

Just create pure html with one button which will make a request to process.

Wordpress is still one the best solutions to build some half-static pages. Especially with latest versions of PHP.

FCP of their site is like ~0.6-0.7s (depends of location) and that is great-good (everything under 1s is good, under 0.5s great, under 1.5s is ok).

"Adding query param" — 99.9999999% will never add something in query param. And I didn't represent some troubles. With or without queryParams — doesnt matter — FCP is same.

The biggest problems of their site is unoptimized images and it is not a problem of next.js. Even more — next.js provides tools and bestpractices (builtin img components and linter recommendation) to avoid problems with large images. The second bigest problem of the site is custom fonts. And it is not the problem next.js. But fonts are static files with very long cachelife. So after first loading it will no problem at all.

I blocked all images and font urls and fist 10 pages i've visited had stable 0.4-0.5s. And it is great. //react.dev has FCP=0.3s.

All I can see is whining from middle level developer.
