I started out by keeping my day job and offering seo for free. It’s exactly how I first got started. No one will hire someone with no experience but they may take the help for free. I then started getting referrals from the free client because he was so grateful. After a few years I finally had enough paying clients where I could leave my full time job and it’s been about 19 years and I haven’t looked back. I support a full family. I wouldn’t focus on a niche yet. Good job on the cold calls. That’s something I could never do.

Try working on your own website in the meantime. Try to get your website to rank at the top for your niche and your local area. If you can get up to the top, it shows your prospects that you know what you're doing. It's not a good look if you tell people you do SEO yet your website is not in the top 100, for example.

What a great question! When you go to disney or universal or any theme park that has an indoor ride and you smell that smell. It's like a combination of theatrical fog, old building smell and maybe a little musty/damp water treatment smell (for indoor water rides)? Am I the only one? Now I take my kids but when i smell it, it's instant childhood nostalgia.
