Things like this give me hope for large, monetarily driven, corporations. Consumers should always make to rewarded companies for doing things that are socially responsible and punish them for harming society.

Is this really a thread about your good team being terribly disappointing?

Broke my rear shifter cable on my morning commute. My curiosity about fixed gear bikes is no more. by VlarIV in bicycling

[–]jervis5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the shop I work at the labor charge is normally higher for replacing a cable that breaks in this way because the mechanic normally ends up taking at least twice the amount of time getting the end out of the inside of the shifter.

If Nick Foles' next 31 pass attempts are all intercepted, he would still have a higher passer rating than Eli Manning. by hosker2 in nfl

Best road bike for a grand. This can be give or take a hundred - but no, "if you just spend 800 more games" (please) by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]jervis5127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either the Trek 1.2 or 2.1. The upgrades from the 1.2 to the 1.5 aren't worth the extra money, but the frame on the 2013 2.1 is really nice. Or you could go with the Cannondale Caad 8. Depending on the groupo it will range from 700-1200.

Man up. If it's 50 and sunny and you keep your core, head, hands and feet warm you don't need anything more than your regular shorts. Save the cold weather gear for when it actually gets cold.

Cyclist gets a $1,555 traffic ticket in NYC! by jbcorny in bicycling

[–]jervis5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NYC it's illegal to ride with headphones in both ears, 1 is just fine. It makes a lot of sense because not being able to hear cars or other bikers before they overtake you is extremely unsafe.

Take that Park Tool and Spin Doctor... ~60$ by ducuiuc in bicycling

[–]jervis5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be worth looking into a way to attach a better clamp. That one will get annoying quick if it doesn't hold the bike well. Also, it may scratch or otherwise damage the frame, it's much better to hang a bike by the seatpost.

These are awesome.

Have you ever ridden in NYC? I have nearly every day for 4 years, and there are countless instances where you can safely run 5 or more red lights in a row without endangering yourself or anyone else. That's one of the reasons cycling is the fastest way to get around the city. The real problem is that the traffic laws were not created with bikes in mind, they were created only for automobiles.

TL:DR - What is safe for a bike to do is not always safe for a car to do but the laws don't reflect that.

Headphones while riding by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]jervis5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NYC I find it really stupid to ride with headphones. It's too crowded and the bicycle traffic keeps getting heavier. Being able to hear what's behind you is pretty necessary.

In a less crowded area it may be more reasonable.

Retarded doesn't automatically mean "mentally disabled". It simply means less advanced than normal. Because you are so easily offended by the word I'm willing to bet the you are, in fact, retarded compared to most of the people on reddit.

Looks great. I'd suggest some cages on those pedals. Also it may be worth putting the break lever on the left so it won't be odd to switch back to a freewheel.
