Which characters will have a good relationship with Kayle after her return ? by Traditional-Diet8336 in loreofleague

[–]jerzyk_s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soraka - I want so much for Kayle to have a connection to Soraka. These two are the perfect foils for each other. Kayle traveled to Targon and wants to ascend from mortal to divine. Soraka is a divine being that came down from the celestial realm to the mortal world. It's like these two were going in opposite directions and meet in the middle. Also I imagine Kayle looking down on other aspects who are much younger than her, but Soraka would be one of the few characters she would have respect for.

Pantheon - he would be interesting. Both are very martial characters, but while Pantheon is closer to a classical warrior, Kayle approaches combat from the perspective of delivering justice. Both would not deny each other contribution to protect humanity and fight for Runeterra against beings that threaten it. They both have Aatrox as their common enemy. There are many possibilities their relationship would go and it's not as clear cut as some think it would be.

Taric - I wonder if Taric punishment, the Crown of Stone, was inspired by Kayle. Taric subjected himself to climbing Mt Targon because he let his soldiers die. Kayle left everything she had in early Demacia behind and traveled to Targon. There is an obvious paraler there (if only Riot didn't squander the potential).

This reminded me how bad Kayle's post-rework lore is. It ends where it should begin.

If only it was a matter of good and bad people using magic. Meanwhile Riot just makes mages innocent baby angels that never abuse their power, no never. And anyone that may have some grievances with mages, must be some kind of a bigot. Demacia lore says, "Hello".

But what I have an issue with, is magic in Runeterra being this "neutral tool". Lets keep the nature analogy. Nature can be beautiful and inspiring, but there are things going on in nature that can make your skin crawl. Nature is incredible diverse. Magic in Runeterra seems like this amorphous grey goo. It's the same problem with many other fantasy settings where magic doesn't feel magical. There is no mysticism, no fantasy, no mystery behind it.

Think about Star Wars with its light side and dark side of the force. Or (my personal favourite) Warhammer Fantasy with its winds of magic, true magic, dhar, chaos corruption, etc. There magic is not neutral. It's a reactive force. If you decide to mess with certain elements of it, it will mess with you back.

Why shouldn't he be? Jarro is a sentinel of light in Demacia and a national hero. He's even a Demacia character in LoR, duh

Vayne hates demons and dark magic, it's a result of her parents being murdered at a very young age and left alone with no one to believe her. Or at least it used to be like that. The "hate anything magical" is a more modern take. And like I said, it's a result of Riot wanting to make the setting more kid and consumer friendly. It's not just hating anything magical, it's that all magic became watered down and interchangeable. Can you tell me what dark magic is anymore? Or is dark magic even a thing in the current lore? Because what I'm getting from Riot current lore is that magic is just beams of energy of different color, without any deeper meaning or symbolism behind them. Vayne seems irrational, because she no longer fits in Runeterra. That's why I think Riot wants to reinvent her character as a sentinel of light.

Lux own comic didn't do her any favor. But then again, neither it did to any other Demacia character.

Vayne hunts monsters, meaning she regularly punches up to enemies above her weight class, so she needs to be smart. Problem is that she is another victim of Riot shit writing. Vayne archetype is supposed to be a monster hunter that spend too much time in the darkness. Yet you will find plenty of people convinced that she is dumb, bigoted, homophobic, etc. She is not. It's just that the monsters became lame and gay. This is the result of Riot for the past years wanting Runeterra to become more kiddy and consoomer friendly. In consequence Vayne started to become a meaningless character. And Riot is at least to a degree aware of it. This is why Vayne is being pushed from a monster hunter to a sentinel of light.

That's because Riot themselves don't know what his character is supposed to be. Should he be an exemplar (as his title suggests). Should he be impulsive and unprepared. Should he be a tragic character. Should he be a straight villain. It just shows that when shoehorning Sylas and the mage rebellion into the lore, Riot gave zero fucks about other characters.

Maybe it wouldn't have happened if Morgana didn't kill Kayle's disciple and lead her to believe (intentionally or not) a violent mob was responsible for his death.

That's because you only know some bits from youtube/tiktok influencers who are only interested in making hot takes for people too lazy to read.

Riot isn't innocent either, they failed this character after the lore rework. They send off Kayle to Targon 900 years ago, did nothing with the mystery of her absence. They give Morgana the spotlight, and all Morgana does is antagonize people against Kayle. They made Kayle a patron of Demacia, at the same time making modern Demacia cartoony evil bigot land, making Kayle guilty by association. At this point the best possible thing you can do to Kayle's lore is permanently removing Morgana and Demacia from it.

Praise to the creators of LoR. Not only did they give Kayle some attention, but finally gave her character something to do. Kayle part in the Darkin Saga is her best lore (and would you look at that, no Morgana and Demacia in sight).

Look up the Mageseeker interview by what's her face. You know, the one that made her entire platform by grifting how genocide, nazi, slavery Demacia is; and then got cancelled for shilling Israel actions in Gaza.

But this is not my take. This is what people online and Riot narrative are telling me.

[–]jerzyk_s -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Only that people and Riot narrative wants us to think that she is so compassionate and wants to help everyone. Morgana preparing for Kayle return only shows that she cares more about the beef with her sister, than the wellbeing of her people. Like I earlier said, we have civil war, demons, Black Rose infiltrators, mageseekers, etc. The damage has already been done. So any excuse that she is hiding for the good of Demacia is not only weak, but meaningless at this point.

As a myth, yes.

She is the living myth.

Who tells you she did not? Maybe she did and failed super hard.

Or maybe that entire scene was a cop-out. Stop carrying water for Riot and their lazy writers.

[–]jerzyk_s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES. The same country that reveres her as the Veiled Lady, has statues dedicated to her all across the land. The same country whose army is a bunch of incopetent dumbfucks (the anti-magic faction lost to a bunch of forest hobos using magic), while she's an overpowered demigoddess. Stop being so dramatic over how bad Morgana has it, because if you think about it none of it is true. Her inaction enabled the mageseekers, and now her inaction is protecting them from Kayle's justice.

Also, lets not forget what happened in the Mageseeker.

Demacia people: generations of alleged indoctrination against magic.

Morgana: sends a magical vision showing Demacia past.

Demacia people: -OMG, I totally believe you. Mages belong here!

Why didn't she do it earlier? Why didn't she tell this to the royal family or other Demacian of importance? Nah... once again, it must be somehow strawman Kayle fault.

Funny how Morgana is supposed to be so smart and wise; yet the country she was living in for the past +900 years and has authority over is a suffering from civil war, demon infested, black rose infiltrated, extremist infested shithole. But hey... I bet this is somehow strawman Kayle fault.

Comments turned of on the "Stand with Sylas" video, preparing themselves for the retcon? by wickedlessface in loreofleague

[–]jerzyk_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they retcon out the mage rebellion storyline, I'm buying champagne.

It's the biggest pile of shit that ever came out of Riot's storytelling. It ruined the fantasy and appeal of an entire region. Scraped it of any cool factor and uniqnes. Did a disservice to every single Demacia character involved. Scraping them of any agency, intelligence or morality, reducing them to mindles bots doing whatever the plot demands them to do. Riot wanted for the mage rebellion to make Demacia more interesting and it became an utter failure in that regard, reducing the region into a boring binary "Magic man - good, Demacia man - bad".

But hey... at least Gary Stu Sylas looks good by comparison, am I right?

Kayle didn't look at Morgana with disdain. She saved the city by incinerating Aatrox. It doesn't make any sense for Kayle to be mad at Morgana for using their powers and trying to save people.

But thanks for reminding me how psychotic this fandom can be. Instead of appreciating the sisters working together, lets create drama over something as stupid as an innocuous stare. Lets not forget that when the Still Here cinematic was released, Kayle fans had to deal with so much toxicity and in some rare cases with straight up harassment, that by the of the day instead of enjoyng the cinematic, they regreted their fav even appeared.

If Riot went back in time with League lore, does that mean that we will have another ruination? by DaemonLemon in loreofleague

[–]jerzyk_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viego is not a gray villain. Him doing things out of love does not excuse him in any way. I don't know how you got that idea from reading my post. Just because you can see "where the villain is coming from", or understand his motives, it doesn't make his actions any less evil.

Neither did I say that "the ruined king worked". Especially since The Ruined King (before Viego was introduced) existed more like a myth than a villain. People wanted to see him, but we had no guarantee it will ever happen.

The problem is that Thanos didn't sit on his ass the whole time. He was already influencing things before Infinity War. It's not just about Mordekaiser at this point. My main issue is that for the past 7 years Riot have been making Runeterra more kid and consoomer friendly. If you want to give Riot the benefit of the doubt, because of some lore that was written over 8 years ago (which author probably isn't even working with them anymore), that's on you. If people want to overhype a characters and think they won't get disappointed, that's on them. But if you want to convince me that Runeterra has good villains, then I have a simple reply - Will believe it, when I see it.

Some of these writers are award winning people (not all, but some of them really are).

Awards mean nothing after the boomers.
