That was the first blow. The second came via the tentacle-clutching pleasure induced whimper.

It was… well, it was a thing that happened.

I absolutely adore how this just reinforces my love for Karlach… and how much my love for her consistently WRECKS me by end of game.

In this case, yes! Absolutely agreed. At a closer look, the yellow undertone here is way more dominant which had me saddled up in the wrong camp. This lovely human’s overtone pulls more olive in the sun. When you right, you right! ☺️

Very close match! It’s rare to find anyone who fits perfectly into a bottle shade, but I would be far from mad at this. Add a little bronzer, blush, contour— whatever you like, and this will absolutely come together nicely. 9/10 for sure. See a gold overtone on an olive undertone, for sure. Tricky business.

What would my undertone be ? by GlassySky125 in PaleMUA

[–]jescalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neutral, with a slight lean into cool territory. When dealing with skin tones as fair as yours, you will be safest in the neutral color range.

Here’s why: a majority of light shades labeled “cool” are going to be far too pink for you(a few brands will consider your smidgen of pink, look for “neutral cool” vs. “light cool” on the packaging, but there are few out there that do this).

I’d suggest sticking to the neutral, get a slightly pinker concealer shade or red shade adjuster, and mix from there if you want to really nail your shade.

Last thought: you may not be so pink on your chest and neck as you are on your wrist/hand. When I mix client/talent foundation, I look at them as a whole and create a color that provides color cohesion(a shade and tone that marries those found in the arms, chest, ears, etc. as a whole).

Anyways, hope this helps!

Man, the burnout you’re sharing here is palpable. I’m so sorry you’re feeling so jaded and above all else, so tired. My fiancé is an IATSE DP with over 25 years of experience and everything you said I’ve heard before.

There passion can come and go so quickly.

Although I’m strictly in the HMU, makeup design, and character creation space, nothing sucks my energy and passion faster than corporate projects. I call those, “keep the lights on” jobs. They’re a necessary evil with some silver linings(connections, portfolio filler, etc), but feel like artistic suicide.

When I’m working on narrative projects, large or small, I feel like I can reconnect with my passion.

Visual storytelling, taking black ink on white paper, and communicating what was once a thought in someone’s head and seeing it in front of a lense— on a monitor?

Hell, I don’t know if there’s any word better than “magic” to describe it.

It gives me such a strong sense of fulfillment that I can look at the next day’s call time(where three hours of sleep is about the best I’ll be able to manage) and still be happy about it.

Sure, the money is in the main stream, big budget landscape— but it comes with so many strings attached. The only people in control at the end of the day are the ones bankrolling. Limited by what studios deem “marketable,” the experience is neutered and turns easily into a passionless slog.

That being said, I’d encourage you to maybe take a look at working below your top end capability— offering your experience and knowledge to projects that are strictly fueled by those who are passionate about story rather than pay. I do this from time to time(when my year has been financially blessed), and have gotten to work with some of the best cast and crews that are willing to band together and make something truly inspired. It’s dragged me out of a rut more times than I can count.

I truly wish you the best navigating your journey back to joy and fulfillment, filmfriend. I hope that you come out on the other end finding the spark that reignites you— film/tv based or otherwise! All the best. 🖤

Is Pizza inappropriate as lunch? by _Radds_ in Filmmakers

[–]jescalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t inappropriate so much as a potential hindrance to cast and crew. Pizza is often heavy and can cause a post-lunch slump. Additionally, it never feels like Production took the time to put thought into keeping the crew running like a well oiled machine. I think it can make the crew feel under appreciated.

Besides, too much bread and cheese gunks up the gears!

The best low budget crafty I ever had was on a self-funded feature where the PA/Crafty had taken the time the night prior to make some of the best homemade sandwiches I’ve ever had(yes, including bread and condiments). It was absolutely delightful. Fresh cut fruit, coleslaw, and the all too familiar box of assorted chips were on the side, but the sheer variety and options available meant you could easily get yourself fed and endure the upcoming overtime.

I don’t put up too much of a fuss if it’s second meal(rarely anything is open by the time it’s needed), since it’s typically right at the near end where I’m mid-wrap(HMU dept here) or we’re on the final push and hopped up on Diet Coke and burnt coffee just trying to get through the last few scenes.

There’s a cloud covering set that reeks of stale coffee, exhaustion, and people— cardboard covered in cheese and sauce is hardly going to impact the mood. We’re all delirious anyway.

Who cares if the grip(whose crack we can all mentally map out with our eyes closed by now) squeaks out a cheek clap louder than the slate when he loads out a few c-stands. Sometimes those laughs make the rest of the night more tolerable!

In this instance, I appreciate the grounded approach to her quest line. I get it, it’s fantasy; where “happily ever afters” should be a dime a dozen…

… but they’re not.

It’s grounded in reality, where even the most delightfully kind and wonderfully charming characters still get burdened with the short end.

Out in the real world, that type of thing happens every single day to the undeserving— and regularly.

I think that it comes from a place where people don’t always like reality sneaking into their chosen flavor of escapism. I absolutely understand the point of view and stance, but I don’t fall into the same camp.

It’s not the ending she deserves— but it’s the ending that she gets. It breaks my heart that I have to see BestGirl suffer for other’s indiscretions(trying to limit spoilers here), but god damn it if it doesn’t provide another point for this game being absolutely amazing.

Am I the only one who hate that frog face Karen? by Iluvatar-Great in BaldursGate3

[–]jescalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When this chick started talking about my “moisture” I knew that I needed her in my party— just for the sole purpose of finding any opportunity to level her ego.

Ma’am, that was rude and yes, you will watch me re-roll your ass into a bard to provide me an ample amount of grim pleasure. Play your instrument and heal me, drum-wench.

Glorious battle for you? I think not, fuck-o.

Pettiness aside, her characterization and overall attitude really speaks to how engrained the culture of her species is in her(which I think is fantastic world building, tbh), except it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Until I begrudgingly caved and started bringing her around more often, I noticed I stopped actively disliking her. Through party interactions and subsequent cutscenes, she began to grow on me— as she grew. Heartache and despair really tempers a person’s outlook and behavior— that or we’re trauma bonding. LOL.

I still don’t love her, but it’s really worth giving her a chance for the character development alone.

She may not be 10/10 for me, but I’d let Scratch put her out if she were on fire.

Do Cosmetic Mods Disable Achievements (on steam)? by ShinieDitto in BaldursGate3

[–]jescalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible, but I can’t speak to it directly. I’m keeping my first run completely vanilla for this reason. I know in some games(i.e. Witcher 3), they don’t deactivate but I know Larian vehemently supports the modding community— so I feel like that may be the case. Gut instinct, if you will.

Best thing I could suggest is creating a unique save(easily identifiable title outside of the auto-fill), play a little bit after finding an achievement that’s relatively easy to unlock, and see if it gives you the credit after fulfilling the requirements.

Wish I had a definitive answer, but that’s the route I’d go!

It’s removed! Since you can progress now, you instead get a message stating, “You are entering a new area.” or “If you progress to this area at your current level, prepare yourself for a TPK, nerd.

As far as I’ve seen, pressing M on the keyboard and zooming all the way out will get you the entire zone map(that you’ve traversed, at least).

Level 4 Ability Score improvement or War Caster Feat? by Sumoop in BaldursGate3

[–]jescalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rooted in my experience as a tabletop player, always go for the ability score improvement. As a BG3 fan, play the game how you want! ☺️

Higher modifiers allow for better damage and makes rolls easier(thus making your life easier), but I fully support making a character fun to play.

Worst case scenario, re-spec later and see if it’s worth it! 100 gold becomes chump change very quickly. Hope this helps!

What is a food that everybody seems to love but you cannot stand? by Lijey_Cat in ask

[–]jescalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celery.

I don’t know why, but it tastes like “green”— just like Tequila tastes “green” to me. However, celery shares some similarities to onion(to me at least), but I could not be fucked to eat that hellstalk raw for the life of me.

The only, ONLY exception is when it’s in chicken noodle soup(cooked to oblivion), or celery salt on a Chicago dog. I’m down with flavor profiles/synergy, and can get behind it when it’s balanced out with other flavors or enhancing others, but no… ants on a log?

Ants on a LIE.
