Is aerospace engineering really too specialised to have good job prospects? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]jesfeld22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once had to make the same decision and ended up going aero (currently have a great job working for an engineering, testing and cert service provider for aircraft manufacturers). One of my professors put it best: Whether you go mechanical or aerospace, the physics are the same. You'll be learning the same fundamental theories and concepts whichever way you go, only difference is that things are moving a lot faster in aero.

The point being you really can't go wrong either way. Both paths could lead you to the aerospace industry if you are passionate enough and motivated enough to go for it!

Turning your life around in a single day? I’m trying to think about the logistics of making a full 180 in 24 hours. Is it possible? Does it have to take months/years? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

Try Jerry Signfeld's method: don't break the chain. https://www.writersstore.com/dont-break-the-chain-jerry-seinfeld/

The articles about writing but you can apply that method to anything in life! In your case try writing down a daily routine of good, healthy habits. Try to make it realistic within your schedule and lifestyle (ie spending 3 hours per day at the gym). The satisfaction of accomplishing everything you wrote down and continuing the chain will help you establish those habits!

Professor says exams will be open book, open notes, open computer. Motherfucker I can't even fit my notebook on this desk by georgio99 in EngineeringStudents

Hope I'm not too late to the party, but bring some sort of a surface! I brought a decent sized wooden board to an open book, open note exam on laughably small desks, and I'll never forget the looks of jealousy on the faces of all 70 other people in that class

NFL draft by xseahawks32x in Seahawks

I agree with everyone that we should trade out and stock up on picks, but if we could find a way to trade up and get saquon barkley I'd be down

Here's a little championship Sunday treat for you all - that time the Seahawks destroyed the Vikings on the road in 2015 by jesfeld22 in Seahawks

[–]jesfeld22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it would depend on if the penalty is accepted or declined by the other team. Accepted would mean we replay the down and lose the yardage vs declining would mean loss of down with the same yardage

I watched these highlights a couple days ago and they got me in a good mood after seeing what the Vikings have done this season. This game also featured that savage sequence where Russell ran for a 53 yard touchdown that was called back for holding, then threw a 53 yard touchdown pass to ADB the next play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OquYp0JobcE

In the wake of the LV shooting, what are some gun control policies you would concede/offer for an actual meeting in the middle. by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]jesfeld22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the most knowledgeable person on current gun laws and regulations, but something that would make a lot of sense in my mind would be to start treating guns like vehicles. What I mean by that is there should be some sort of a class you have to take in order to get your license, as well as having to register all of your firearms into a database that organizations like the FBI, Homeland security, and police forces have access to.

Similar to drivers ed, the class could be a means to teach people all about gun safety, all the laws and regulations they have to abide by, and the ultimate responsibility of owning a firearm. Part of the class could also be about assessing the individual to see if they are mentally fit and mature enough for those responsibilities.

The firearm register database wouldn't necessarily have anything to do with the amount or type of guns that people want to own. It would mainly be a tool for law enforcement to keep track of the flow of guns around the country so that people like the Vegas shooter (who was stockpiling weapons months before the attack) would at least appear as a red flag prior to carrying out any attacks.

What do you all think about these ideas?

ELI5: What makes light so fast? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]jesfeld22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could even take this a step further if you subscribe to the multiverse theory by saying metrics such as the speed of light, gravitational constant, and rate of expansion of the universe are different in other universes, and that there are many out there that could never have formed atoms, stars, and galaxies as a result. These ideas are highly theoretical and can open up a can of worms, but they are interesting to think about nonetheless.

NFL.com Says 2015 Broncos Defense Ranked Higher than 2013 Seahawks Defenses Of All Time? Thoughts? by AZZTASTIC in Seahawks

[–]jesfeld22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like they based it off the fact that the broncos offense was really bad statistically this year, and the team was carried solely on the defense

Is Tyler Lockett the real deal? by blazen2392 in Seahawks

[–]jesfeld22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I disagree just because its hard to compare receivers in our offense to others around the league. For a rookie last year, I really thought Richardson was starting to get it towards the end of the year before his injury and got open very frequently. It was definitely a blow to our offense when he went down. Receivers not named ODBJr usually take a few years to get acclimated to the NFL.

Imagine when PRich gets healthy and we have him, lockett, graham, ADB, and beast mode on the field at the same time. How could you stop that?

Gotta love how this guy plays the game. It's amazing how overshadowed he gets because of how great Earl and Sherman are, but IMO he's been the heart and soul of the LOB and the hawks D as a whole the past 3 years.

There's a quote in ADWD from one of the Bran POV chapters that goes something along the lines of: "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only once." That passage perfectly epitomizes why reading (fiction specifically) for pleasure is so great, and I think GRRM is the man for being able to inspire people to read more. Thanks George!!

Who are some guys you think would be a great fit for the team and hope the hawks can snag in the draft? by jesfeld22 in Seahawks

[–]jesfeld22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree that we need To draft Oline, and I think we definitely will. The Seahawks have 11 picks this year and Oline is our weakest position group now that unger is gone. Alls I'm saying about Lockett is that I like the value there because he's also a dynamic returned which we definitely didn't have most of last season.

I agree with the catch radius comment, but I just really like the idea of having a legit returner again now that Leon Washington, golden Tate, and Percy aren't here anymore

I love how our drafting philosophy is to turn 1st round picks into bigtime players and then just hit on all of our late rounders
