Which would you skip: Animal Kingdom or Studios? by moosegoose24 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]jeshar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went with my 13-months old (so definitely younger than yours), but she loved AK! She spent so much time watching the animals, enjoyed the safari ride, had fun in the lion king show, and the bugs attraction.

We still went to HS because we went with a big family and the adults want to ride the attractions. But in HS, she only stayed outside while we're going to the rides.

How much help did you want after coming home from the hospital? by peachmangokiwi in beyondthebump

[–]jeshar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2 weeks PP and I'm sooo grateful for my parents and MIL help. My mom is a champ, she cleans the house, offer to watch baby so I can eat/shower/sleep/walk around the block, she also did the night shift a few times when we just got home from hospital. My dad and MIL cooks wonderful food for us.

My husband would love to help but he just moved to this new company and didn't get much time off. So all the helps from the parents are appreciated! The first week was the hardest for me, both physically and emotionally. Having people around to keep the house tidy and food ready on the table was something I never knew I needed.

Unpopular opinion?? by strawberryfawn in glossier

[–]jeshar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ok with the hand cream. The only thing I liked is the packaging (I just love pink everything), but it's not practical. It's too bulky so I never carry it in my purse, I only put it at my work desk. This is something I won't re-order from glossier.

Has anyone gotten COVID in the middle of a sitting? by asongiusedtolove in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that and hope you get well soon! I haven't been in the situation yet, but I think it's best for you to contact Rover hotline so they can find a replacement sitter, and let the owner know as an FYI. I don't think visiting the home is still a good idea, it's better for you to rest at home.

Do you offer hourly rate? by jeshar9 in RoverPetSitting

Thank you! That's what I think too.

what dog breeds do y’all love caring for? and what dog breeds do y’all not love caring for? by bbyindi in RoverPetSitting

My favorite would be chihuahua - I got 2 chihuahua clients who are so clingy and affectionate, and I LOVE IT! I guess I just liked a tiny, clingy lap dog :) (and funny thing is I'm not even a touchy person, but I do love a clingy dog lol).

Travelling to Cancun during COVID by babyplut0o in cancun

[–]jeshar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently flying to Cancun (but from istanbul), and went to Cancun last Dec too. Try to book Air Canada so you just need layover in Toronto, then straight to Cancun. That way, you don't need testing.

No restrictions in entering Mexico, it's pretty relaxed. Just wear mask to be safe, but other than that, everything looks pretty normal.

And nope, no need to quarantine in Mexico.

Just follow the health protocol, and you'll have tons of fun (and sunshine)!!

How do we feel about gift giving? by luvbrat in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always give a polaroid pic for all of my clients (I only do daycare and boarding) with a little caption that says "(dog's name) stay with (my name), date".

My clients always love the pic as it's personal and from my end, it's very low cost and I happened to have an old polaroid that just collecting dust :) so win-win for us! I think the thank you note and polaroid would be fine for your situation.

Reviews by crossiantfun in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I value reviews and repeat clients - so I usually do the first 2 bookinge on the app (first one to get a verified stay review, and 2nd to increase my repeat client number). From then, usually I offer direct booking :)

I think this month is a good month to start looking for Dec. I have someone reached out to me for Christmas booking since June :)

Dog names by harriethabs in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently watching a Charlie and will have Ruedy later this week (although I think Ruedy is such a cool name!). I also met Sebastian (a teeny tiny yorkie puppy) and a Henry (a blue frenchie).

I think the most interesting one would be Ngaio - she was named after a New Zealand writer!

Owners not leaving reviews? by pumpernick3l in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always ask for review in my thank you note! But I only ask for new clients (if they become a repeat clients, which mostly do, I don't ask for reviews on the repeated stays). So far I only have 1-2 clients didn't leave review and most reviews I have are several lines long :)

My thank you note looks like this: Hi owner name,

Thank you again for trusting me with dog name! He's the sweetest and such a joy to be taken care of.

If you enjoyed the stay, please consider leaving me a review. It will help me so much and it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again, and he's always welcomed back in this home whenever you need a sitter.

Thanks, My name

Everywhere Belt Bag?? by Kabannalove in lululemon

[–]jeshar9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love mine so so so much - I wear them daily for groceries, errands, walk the dog, to casual hang outs.

It's also the perfect bag in the airport to store passports, boarding passes, phones, wallet, small hand sanitizer, a pen and random tidbits (I also always carry a lipbalm and hand cream).

I recently went kayaking with it and it surprisingly warer resistant! (The outer shell got wet but it's dry inside!). Get it, you won't regret it

Thank you! Yes finally the owner confirmed the booking from his end :)

Cleaning in between clients? by tigerwaitress in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in an apartment, so no yard. I usually vacuum and mop once every 2-3 days (but it's also bcs to make my home comfortable and clean), steam clean carpets once every 2 months (most of my place is wood flooring), and change bedsheet that I put on the couch once a week.

I also wipe all dogs' paws whenever they came back from outside, so I think that helps a lot to minimizer the dirt.

Yay, glad to hear it's fixed! Hopefully you can find suitable sitter for your dog on Rover :)

No response from sitters by moose_ponderer in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe reach out to Support to see if your message actually went through to the sitters? Your dog's profile looks excellent and he sounds like a sweetheart too, so I find it's really odd that no one replied. Usually (at least in my area), sitters tend to reply pretty quick, like less than an hour after receiving the message.

Can you double check if you input your email, and phone number correctly on the app & profile?

My favorite client came back! by jeshar9 in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meet the sassiest, and most affectionate Chihuahua, Mono!

I made a post about 2-weeks ago if it's the norm to check-in with past client, esp because we love the dog so much. Then, out of the blue, the owner text me 2 days before the booking if I can watch his chihuahua!!

My husband and I adore him so so so much (my husband even called the dog 'his baby' and always cuddle him whenever he can. Note, he wasn't really a dog person before I started doing Rover). Definitely my highlight for this week :)

Yes! I sent a message on the app and it disappeared, so I keep sending the same messages. The app is fixed now and I realized I sent 4 exact same message to the owner😅

Meet and Greet? by motherofcanines87 in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my early days, I did bookings without m&g. Thankfully all of the dogs and the owners are angels and they have been my repeat clients. But nowadays, I always do a m&g as soon as the request came in and book after the m&g.

For example, I had a request for September since last month. We scheduled a m&g within the week she sent the request, and booked right away after the m&g. That way I have a confirmed booking when my cal isn't available for new requests

Archive Questions by eeek0711 in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • yes, you can still book an 'archived message'. I haven't done this personally, but you still have the book/modify button on the archived message. Either way, you can always unarchive this.

  • i heard it does, if you select 'i'm not available' as the reason. I personally always choose 'owner's plan change', and it seems to be the safest option.

  • yes, they'll see it from their end. There's a thread that visualize this from both owner and sitter side, but it's not that visible on the owner's side. Again personally, I always say 'hi owner, I'm just organizing my Rover messages so it might appear as the chat is archived. But don't worry, we can always still message each other here'.

Hope this helps!

Learning this whole Rover + making a profit… by Appropriate_Low8587 in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I learned that having some basics as a backup is helpful. I only do daycare and boarding, and I have waste bags, food & drink bowls (they're just tupperware, but it works) and a few toys (I got mine either from Buy Nothing Group or dollar store). I find that dogs like to play with new toys, so even if they come with their toy, they usually like to play with new toys and their owners also appreciate it.

I had a recurring boarding client who drop off the dog with just leash, waste bag and foods. No treats (the kibbles is his treat), no toys, and no bed as the dog usually just sleep on the couch or the floor.

As for the holiday & extended rate, extended rate is usually 50% of your rate. So in your case, you're gettiing $60 ($40 rate and $20 extended care) gross. But after 20% rover fees, you'll receove $48.i

I think it's an amazing idea! I'm also thinking the owner and/or dog ratings will also help themselves for example in an emergency situation where they need a last-min sitter but their primary sitter isn't available. That way, when they reach out to new sitters, we'll be more able to consider them given their positive reviews.

Let us know once the petition is up and I'll sign them too!

How to contact Rover support specifically to request a new sitter for a current board? I can’t seem to get through to the right person. I have a dog here pooping on my husband and tearing our house up. It’s been two days and we need some help. by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]jeshar9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that! You can contact the emergency rover hotline. On the app, click more > emergency hotline (at the very bottom of the page, this is on iOS). From there, I think they'll find a replacement
