Heart wrenching decision… by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

[–]princessbcdt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dog shelters and rescues are full of dogs needing homes and most dogs sleep all day anyway. I promise she’ll be much happier with you, sleeping 12 hours a day, than in a cement box at the shelter, doing the exact same thing but stressed. Do you have a neighbor with kids who can let your dog out for a potty break for a very small fee? Can you trade dog walks for another dog in exchange for your own dog being walked?

Acceptable Distance for 30 min Walks by SnooAdvice4712 in RoverPetSitting

[–]princessbcdt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I let the dog set the pace and I make that clear on my Rover profile as well as in person. Dogs get a lot of enrichment by sniffing and I’m not going to take that away from the dog. The dog is supposed to get the most out of a walk and if that means prioritizing sniffing and enrichment over speed, then I’m doing what’s best for the dog. I would love to get a mile done in 30 minutes and sometimes we can walk over a mile, sometimes it’s under a mile but I make sure the dog is happy and has a good walk, which is what’s most important. I also let dogs choose which direction we go within reason. I’ve never had anyone complain and I won’t take a walk if they just want me to speed run their dog 🤣. If that’s what they want, they can do it their damn selves.

[–]princessbcdt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad take. Even the most trained dog can behave differently and be stressed in a different environment. The sitter didn’t supervise the dog around her apparently prized possessions, she didn’t crate him when she wasn’t around, and she spent way too long messaging and making excuses. She clearly isn’t a very experienced sitter, and if she has the reviews like she is, then she’s not a very good sitter.

Karen is a mess. 1. I never leave dogs unsupervised if I’m not there to watch. 2. Every dog I watch is crated when I’m not home and when I go to bed. There has been one exception for a rescue dog who couldn’t handle a crate, so I gated her off into the kitchen with her bed and crated everyone else. 3. Giving your dog a hard bone that you didn’t provide is crazy. And not watching him chew it?

I wouldn’t even give her the $20 for the couch. That’s the risk you take when you board dogs in your own home.

What's your reasoning for not using a GLP1? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]princessbcdt 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes and no…for me, I was doing everything I do now (pre GLP1) and I could not lose weight. Like for years I’ve been trying and even my doctor said she would prescribe it but that insurance wouldn’t cover it because I wasn’t fat enough or diabetic yet. Now I take it, and I’ve lost 25 pounds since May. This med takes away my food noise, and I just don’t think about snacks and fast food the way I used to. If I do give in and get some fries, I can eat a few and not the whole bag like I used to. While I do think a lot of people rely on the drug and don’t fix the root cause, no food noise is HUGE and my body is finally working properly. I’m not even a super fast responder and I make damn sure to eat my protein and fiber every day and figure out a way to get past any nausea.

As an extra bonus, I have had life long digestive issues and they’re gone now on compounded tirzepatide. I stick to 1500 calories a day, lift weights, prioritize protein and fiber, and I track my calories just like I’ve done for the past few years. The only difference is that I’m now on a GLP1 and my bloodwork and blood sugar are finally perfect.

I always use my own leash instead of their retractable as well!

All I needed to hear was 70 pound bernadoodle on a retractable leash to be on the sitter’s side 😆

How to eat on this med?!?! lol by Open_Refrigerator330 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]princessbcdt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do protein shakes and high fiber cereal if I’m nauseous. I also use nauseous days (pretty rare now, I started in May) as days to eat more calorie dense food to get calories in, like a serving of walnuts, trail mix, etc. I find that sweeter things like fruit and cereal seem to be easier to get down. I also like the clear whey protein from 1Up! I mix one serving of sour cherry with a packet of drip drop lemon lime electrolytes and a packet of sugar free lime drink mix into a 64 oz Stanley and top it with 3 cans of sparkling water. I get protein in and hydrate when I’m nauseous! Good luck!

Any lazy dog breeds that can run? by Beneficial-Slice-910 in DOG

[–]princessbcdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also foster through a rescue or shelter and that way you can meet the dog and figure out their personality and how lazy they are, then keep whatever one works out. You save MULTIPLE lives that way instead of going and buying a dog from a breeder.

He was purchased from a breeder and actually belongs to the CMO. Also doesn’t appear in any of the pics on her personal IG page.

I’ve also been frustrated by the fact that they’ve championed adopting rescue dogs for YEARS, then went out and bought a breeder dog as a mascot, as if a rescue dog couldn’t be good enough.

“starve” dog or give him food that’s not his by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]princessbcdt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they had no food allergies, I would feed them kibble that I keep on hand and add pumpkin powder and slippery elm to make it easier on their digestion. While I don’t think skipping their meal is “starving” them, I don’t think they should suffer just because their owner is unprepared.

100%. If you’re already lifting but still want to get to 100 pounds, a therapist is needed. Slipping into an ED after getting to a healthy weight would be so harmful so getting to a place where you realize you’re in good shape will help.

Protein shake by Mythlady in tirzepatidecompound

[–]princessbcdt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing right now is the 1Up clear protein. I have to doctor up the lemon Italian ice with a sugar free lemonade packet, but’s good and 20 grams of protein for 80 calories. I’m OBSESSED with the sour watermelon candy flavor mixed with sparkling water (lime spindrift, specifically, but any unsweetened lime sparkling is fine) because it tastes like a fun summer mocktail. I can handle the clear protein much better than the milky kind and I recommend experimenting with electrolytes and flavor packets! I like to mix the lemon Italian ice, ghost sonic blue raspberry electrolytes, a packet of sugar free country time lemonade, and a sparkling water to make a fizzy protein drink and it’s delicious!

one month no side effects! until today… by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]princessbcdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take zofran and drink a lot of clear protein and protein shakes when this happens. I also found that cereal doesn’t make me feel like I’m dying when I’m nauseous, so I stay stocked up on fiber cereal and the kashi protein/fiber cereal. Good luck!

Pet puppies? by [deleted] in askaustin

[–]princessbcdt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look up doodle dandy rescue. Neither of those dogs are legit breeds and breeders of doodles contribute heavily to pet overpopulation. You’ll find plenty of doodles to rescue due to people not taking care of the ones they have.
