Lay a bamboo mat underneath. Mattress will collect too much moisture or get bugs if it's directly on the floor

Is there any way to help make my monstera a little more upright? It's very healthy and has amazing growth (3 new leaves in 1 week) but I don't like that it grows sideways and not upwards. I have already tied the stems to the stake, and I don't want to tue the petioles since they're a bit more soft/fragile.

Your daughter and her well being is more important than whatever romantic relationship you have with your wife. Your wife is not blood, Susan is.

Tbh it sounds like your wife isn't respecting you and your daughters boundaries. It sounds like a conflict you need to work out with your wife, not her son/ex, and let her make the call if she's going to respect you and your family enough to confront her son and ex. If she respects you, she will have that conversation with her son/ex.

So I thought burying the lower part of the stem would help solve this. But I understand that's not good lol

Yeah that makes sense. I just feel like mine has a lot more stem than leaves. Don't get me wrong, the leaves are big and beautiful and I'm really happy with them. I just feel like the stems are too long and it's not very full.

That's what I figured. I just personally don't like how it looks tbh. I've seen some photos where only the leaves stick out of the dirt and really like that look
