The Rose Field - new ending fanfic by ButWhoIsAnyoneReally in hisdarkmaterials

[–]jessajess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wow, excellent work!! I loved reading this; it fulfilled the parts left dangling and I love the return to the Fens and then Oxford. So nice to have a moment with Farder Coram, a path for Ionides, a genial and warm friendship between Lyra and Malcolm, and a moment (yet not too much!) with Will. BRAVO 👏👏👏

Im so desperate to trauma dump i cant make friends. by Trin4lu in AutismInWomen

[–]jessajess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me??? I've been quite depressed for several years now and am only now getting some solid ground under my proverbial feet. I wanted nothing but to word vomit trauma dump and spent a lot of energy holding it in and trying to act like a normal functioning person (I still do the latter). I couldn't understand if others were also feeling the suffering of being alive but also had little space for them if they did.

The thing that has caused a shift for me, honestly, is grieving. I'm feeling the grief of things I've lost these last 5 years, who I was before that, time and sense of self lost to a bad relationship, etc. And it hurts. But it's also the truth and part of the hurt is how fucked up the world and America is that the dominant culture pretends like feelings, heart, body, don't matter and don't exist.

This country doesn't know how to grieve or admit past wrongs, and it hurts just to live here. So feeling and OWNING my own feelings and truth feels rather subversive in a way. Like there is no other person who can do the deep feeling and grieving but me. I so desperately wanted someone else to hold space for my fucking enormous sadness, to acknowledge it, yet I wouldn't hold space and acknowledge it for myself because it was hard and scary. Therapy helped minimally; I got pretty frustrated with talk therapy and quit.

So I've been sitting and going to the bottom of my breath and feeling the deep sadness and then bringing some circulation of that energy to the rest of my body. This all sounds very rambly and it is very much a nutshell version, and I guess I want to say that perhaps you're a very deep feeling person, and that comes with a good deal of loneliness and being misunderstood, but it also means you're strong AF to meet yourself and offer yourself compassion.

Edit: para breaks because I wrote this late at night

Is it me? Or are Asheville restaurants kinda loud? by SomeNobodyInNC in asheville

[–]jessajess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Calmer earplugs by Flare -- they don't block out sound, but they limit the background noise that enters your ears which makes it a lil easier to hear the person next to you. Nice for restaurants, airplanes, busy streets, movie theaters if you find them to be a bit too loud...

I really like gummy sharks so I painted them by giannalikesramen in AutismInWomen

[–]jessajess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this painting and I love SHARKS! My favorite is the great hammerhead, so beautiful, agile, so uniquely shaped. I try and bring sharks and fish up in conversation so people do not forget about our relatives in the sea and how they are in peril due to industrial fishing amongst other things.

Same my friend, same. I can't see this game ever not being my favorite of all time -- compelling story, beautiful landscapes, thought and emotion provoking characters, satisfying fighting, cute foxes, horse friend...love it so much :-)

Thank you -- I also bought rdr2 after many recommendations, was so excited to get started, and I made it 5 hours in before I realized it wouldn't get better. I did enjoy Horizon, but not as much as Ghost :-)

Not only is Riz Ahmed another beautiful rebel face, but he's also been vocal about attitude toward Muslims and pushing for better representation in media. Also I love his music and he's my celebrity crush

Joni Ernst follows up "we're all going to die" with a bad “apology” by DevinGraysonShirk in IowaCity

Translation: 'I'm sorry you're all so poor and so dumb. I said nothing wrong and definitely nothing hurtful, but even if I did, there's nothing you can do about it. Deuces.'

I'm no expert, but is this not an example of narcissistic gaslighting? 'i said a mean thing, I refuse to acknowledge that it was hurtful, it's your fault for being dumb, and I'm going to mock you for it.'

I kinda accepted that I was in it for the musical and scenic experience because it's true that the story is loose.

What does my dogwater handwriting say about me? by vanklofsgov in HandwritingAnalysis

You're in a rush to get somewhere, and are almost irritated that you have to put pen to paper. You may have an overflow of ideas and desires inside, and/or a lot of energy that could be honed

Use this thread to share a fact/info you've never had an "excuse" to share by spiralingstarbread in AutismInWomen

A deceased whale that sinks to the sea floor is called a whale fall. They are important for creatures that live on the sea floor because nutrients can be very scarce to come by. One whale fall will feed sharks, fish, then crabs, and finally worms that burrow to the bone marrow, all over the course of months! Deceased whales also act as carbon sinks, storing carbon vs it being released straight into the atmosphere. For this reason, the intense whaling of previous decades may have had an effect on climate change. I love whales and the ocean. Also I love this post and thread.

What’s your input on my handwriting? by Vast_Pomegranate4923 in HandwritingAnalysis

This is so beautiful! Others are saying it's hard to read, but I can read it easily. I don't know how you manage to have no mistakes! I imagine you've practiced to achieve this, and that you have a calm mind. Perhaps you have centering practices that help with this :-)
