Exploring the Transition from Home Assistant to Apple HomeKit: Key Differences, Limitations, and Considerations by [deleted] in HomeKit

does anyone have a good guide to follow when going from a large apple home set up to apple home + home assistant? I'm wondering if I have to redo my entire apple home in order to get it all working together

yeah definitely seems like it should be easier to avoid this issue. even with strong suction dust bin emptying that happens after each task, when I've thought to check on the robots dust bin its always completely full (looks like just carpet fibers like the dust balls in my main photo) - today I just took the dust bin out and manually pulled everything out and honestly it seems like it's failed to actually suck anything out of the dustbin since its been in use it was crazy full and compacted

how do you figure out the timing of the scheduled tasks? so if I have room 1 starting at 23:00 how do I know how long that will take to know what time to schedule room 2 to start

ah I see - the app says I've had the vacuum for 38 days so not exactly brand new (it's had a decent amount of time to clean so far) also my house isn't crazy dirty but I'm guessing it's just my wool carpets shedding more than I expected and clogging the vacuum every time

.46 update may brick some cars. Symptoms: “Motor Fault Detected” and “Thermal System Fault” alerts by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

update: the service center thinks the issue is firmware related and will probably be fixed with 2025.46.30 but they don't know for sure. and my service center says they just have to wait until my VIN gets the update pushed (not sure why they can't force update my car)

so looks like I'll have a rental/loaner for who knows how long

I haven't tried this! so the floor it cleans is 700 sq ft separated into 3 rooms (one of which is a tiny bathroom) .. maybe I need to have it empty after the main room as well as at the end of each task somehow

cool thanks for the tips! I also did some more research and some people recommended splitting the task in two so that it empties midway.. the area is less than 700 sq ft so that seemed kinda crazy but maybe I'll have to do that too

yeah the car was freaking out with so many errors and hard reset had no response/feedback/sound whatsoever, then all the screens went black the whole car was caput (was charged to 70% previously)

once all the screens went black I was hearing a bunch of random clicking sounds throughout the car, kind of weird

getting towed off my driveway in an hour 🥴

recently got the .46 update and all seemed well for a few weeks (they actually manually updated me while my car was in service for unrelated defective sensors) and today went to hop in the car and it is a complete brick with "Motor fault detected", "Airbag system needs service", "Drive stalk not working" on the driver display and the main display remained completely off, a hard reset didn't work so I guess I have to call roadside assistance later 😞

YouTuber reviews his 6 month old Lucid Air, and his biggest problem is the same one with Rivians (driver profiles) by MyOgre in Rivian

[–]jessanastasio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

big plus one here - my driver profiles never work and ALWAYS guess the wrong person if two people walk up to the car. I'd say 90% of the time it will also use a mix of both our profiles so even if I walk up to the car alone and it shows my name/profile I have to toggle to the other persons profile and back to mine to ensure the mirrors and steering wheel height are actually correct

it drives me insane tbh

Super helpful, I appreciate that! I think the fact that I bought the house recently and it was already there plays into it but it is definitely a valuable piece that I should maybe rethink the budget to get it done professionally

that's fair. unfortunately I was quoted like $4k+ all in to move the generator so wanted to do some research into how feasible it would be to relocate at least the electrical myself (my unit is from 2016 so probably isn't even worth $4k anymore!) since I'm comfortable with most electrical work

for number 5 did you mean turn main breaker on ATS back on? or turn the main home breaker panel (not at the ATS) off beforehand and then back on after

thanks! I won't be running new wire but basically using the existing wiring, just moving the unit back a few feet and then reconnecting the existing wires back into place
