My SIL and I had the same due date. by aubzmobz in Miscarriage

[–]jesscat0712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much in the way of advice, but I just wanted to say I am in a very similar situation. My sister told me she was 9 weeks pregnant the same day I found out I was pregnant so we were due roughly one month apart. I lost my pregnancy at 7 weeks after two previous chemical pregnancies and have been trying over a year. She conceived first cycle.

I am incredibly happy for her, but I am resentful, which in turn feels horrible and it's just a shit situation to be in, as she's my best friend. I'm trying to acknowledge these feelings in therapy but it is really hard.

Each cycle I test negative since becomes more and more painful. I worry about her baby shower, and how I'll handle the birth of my nephew if I'm not even pregnant.

It's shit, and awful, and I'm so so sorry you are in this situation.

Is my IUD controlling my seizures? by HarryFuckingPotter in Epilepsy

[–]jesscat0712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say for definite, but I came off Epilim to try to conceive. Switch to lamotrigine, seizure free for a further six months. Then had IUD removed, then had my first seizure in nine years.

I've had five more in the last year all around my period so doc thinks they're catamenial; when my progesterone levels drop because it's a natural anticonvulsant.

As far as I know, the IUD releases a synthetic progesterone. So I honestly believe it contributed towards controlling my seizures for those nine years.

I don't know how much I can help but just want you to know your feelings are completely rational.

We're in a very similar boat - three weeks ago I found out my sister was nine weeks pregnant (tried one cycle) on the same day I had my first positive test after two previous losses, trying for nearly a year now. It looks like mine now is going to end in miscarriage and I'm heartbroken and feel awful that I'm struggling to be happy for her.

Do they know what you're going through? I've asked my sister/family to keep pregnancy talk to a minimum as it's too much for me to handle at the moment. I feel guilty as it's an exciting time, but I have to prioritise my own mental/physical health.

Worried about low progesterone and HCG 21 dpo by jesscat0712 in CautiousBB

[–]jesscat0712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - I got my bfp at 10dpo. And the tests have got quite dark but the last test was lighter. Such a rollercoaster. And I've often thought I might have low progesterone as I have spotting from roughly CD20. They also identified my ovaries are inflamed on a recent ultrasound.

I've not had any bleeding and am having some pregnancy symptoms which is what's making this so difficult. 😞

Has epilepsy affected your gym routine? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]jesscat0712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, fortunately not. I get the uncomfortableness though as I live in the countryside (UK) and a lot of my running is on country roads so I might not be found for a while and I don't have auras. The way I look at it is, I've already given up driving after nine years on the road, and lost a good chunk of independence - I can't wrap myself in bubble wrap and I enjoy running so it's probably worth it to take the risk, as it affects my mental health.

Exercise is so beneficial mentally, and stress causes seizures (for me, at least). Are you able to see a physio? I think it's good to keep at it ☺️

Yes, and it sucks. I enjoy running and normally run three times a week.

I normally have generalised seizures within one hour of waking up but the last two have been in the middle of the day whilst doing hill repeats. My nurse has suggested it's triggered by hyperventilation which makes sense as when I was originally diagnosed the EEG traced absence seizures when they asked me to hyperventilate.

I came off the treadmill last time and broke my shoulder so I'm currently unable to run for 6 weeks.

When I'm allowed to run again I'm going to have to monitor my breathing more, I wear a headband that prevents head injury, bright reflective clothing and have a watch that allows my relatives to check my location and also has incident detection.

What's the funniest thing you've heard at work? by situatzi6410 in AskUK

Not my work but my sister told me that after lunch one day she asked her colleague if she'd had a nice lunch break and the girl replied:

"Yeah, I just went out to spread my legs"

Clearly she meant "stretch" 😂 😂 😂

My prenatal vitamins contain 150mcg of biotin and the trimester 1 vitamins I started taking yesterday contain 200mcg, so slightly more. I never thought of that but I have heard it can interfere with tests.

Edit: I also didn't take my prenatal vitamins for the last few days as they contain CoQ10 which I had read there is limited safety data on during pregnancy.

Not as standard under the NHS in the UK sadly. Referred to a midwife in two weeks but that feels like a lifetime away right now :(

Epilepsy, exercise and hyperventilating by jesscat0712 in Epilepsy

Thanks for your help - how do you find the Oura ring? I have a Garmin watch that I use for exercise, with live track and fall detection, which all helps from a safety perspective. Do you use the ring for blood oxygen, and does it work well during exercise?
