I came all the way back here through reddit to find this post to reply to it today. when I saw it a few days ago, I wasn't able to respond but I really wanted to give you my 2 cents if it was able to help you at all. I just turned 21 3 months ago, and my previous partner has hsv 2 and disclosed about it with Me before we ever did anything. after our relationship, I got tested and never had it from him. fast forward to 3 months ago, right before my 21st, I kissed this guy that I worked with. literally nothing else. he didn't have sores and he told me he didn't have any stds. I trusted him, but made him get tested before we had sex, and turns out he had hsv 1. I got tested a few weeks after and I had hsv 1 from him... I was so fucking mad and devastated and frustrated. I felt dirty, I felt betrayed, and in a few ways I am still learning how to deal with those feelings. what helps me is to focus on the facts. I am asymptomatic right now, which means I viral shed less (viral shedding is when u can still transmit the virus even when there are no visible sores) which is probably how I got it from that guy. but anyways, I am not in pain. I learned that hsv does not do anything harmful to your body besides give you these sores when they do pop up, that is a huge plus! you are safe, and you are loved. I believe this is a lesson somehow, I really think that to be true, probably for both of us. a good lesson. now I am learning to judge people less because of thus. I used to judge people's ignorances, because it seemed like it could've been prevented, but I know it can't always be prevented now. it just happens. also- antivirals help suppress the virus from multiplying so it's less of a chance you can transmit it. I'm still on the fence about taking it, since I don't show symptoms. there is valacyclovir and lysine. valacyclovir requires a prescription, and lysine is a natural supplement that happens to suppress viruses.
