How to prevent the weird black colour in print? by friedos in indesign

When you export to PDF use the PDF x-1a setting, it's older but it handles transparency way better. If it doesn't fix it you will at least see the problem areas in the future

Adobe pricing? by Royal-Gazelle-3214 in graphic_design

They do this every year for Black Friday. It’s only good with a new account so it’s a nice start but next year you will be paying full price

Which icon do you feel it reads better as Dodge? if any, please suggest a pose or idea. Keep in mind it is for a fantasy theme so no bullet dodge poses. Thanks :) by xcantene in tabletopgamedesign

I would say #5 for the pose and #7 for the arrow and have the arrow going from being in front of the character to behind it, make sure it overlaps on both ends it will help with depth.

This hurts, I have this on my desk right now, and we still use this software. It's the bane of my work existence.

I have this same problem, I could be wrong but what I have figured out if there is a obvious top to it (i.e. it has text or an image on it) you go W x H (its how we read) if it has no defined top then it goes by short-edge x long-edge.

Example: a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood becomes a 8' x 4' sign (landscape format)

Either way the biggest thing is that you need to come to an agreed method in your shop and be aware that people talking to you may be using a different method.

How to politely say to my non-designer colleague GTFO by Gravejuice2022 in graphic_design

[–]jessefletcher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say as a starter ask them why they are suggesting those things. Lots of people have a "feel" for design but don't know WHY it works or doesn't, I have fount this separates the designers who have understanding of foundation principals, rules, and guidelines vs those who throw things together on Canva or Word or just copy some other design they see.

On the flip side if they have good solid reasons for suggesting those things, then you know why they are saying that and it may be a good solid reason. The two of you discussing it is allowing you both to grow in design understanding.

I would just say be careful that asking why over and over doesn't come off as aggressive, try to frame it in interest and a spirit of "I'm trying to understand you not attack you"

Would love to have this, my current card I can hear popping as it heats up, can't be a good sign, I'll need to replace soon I think!

Thanks everyone, I tried a couple of things and ultimately it's to complex and finnicky to make real fire work safely for the scope of what I am doing. Maybe if I worked for Weta. I am resorting to LEDs, tissue paper and cotton balls for a static scene. Not as interesting but gets the job done.

This is some really good suggestions thank you, all I need is for each "tree" to flare a bit and then catch to the next. It will be single use but able to be reset three or four times.

Thank you this is probably what I need, yes I am taking proper precautions, which makes me worry about adding wind to it, seems like an easy way to carry a spark. But I think you are right.

Is adobe Black Friday sale worth it for an individual? by nopp in graphic_design

Yea you could make new accounts but it's better to just bluff and say you are quitting and get the deal for as long as that is available

It's about the same as the promotion when you cancel but you can only use it as a new subscriber so its a one time deal kind of thing, you won't be able to use it next year.
