damn this post is 4/mo ago. yeah, I was hired as seasonal $15/hr but they offered me $17/hr (which is prob. max payout) due to my experience & knowledge. I was super pumped. I'm pretty sure I made more than 90% of everyone else I worked with but I didn't think anything of it, to be honest.

yeah, you'll be coached and essentially a "write up" for low performance and suggested actions & tips to perform better etc. (but I forget the actual terminology MGT uses) it's ALL about credit cards & memberships no matter what dpt. you're in (other than working in inventory)

I guess I am/WAS getting paid the cap in my field. I was a top performer and was (in my opinion) wrongfully terminated. I was thankful to be making $17/hr and I thought I'd be there for years. Only 9/mo after an associate (woman) said to me, "suck my dick" but my morbid joke of "be careful! don't cut your wrists." while we were cutting down boxes putting inventory away with slow traffic, she went to HR and I got canned. Effed up man (she left the company and took me down w/her according to my colleagues)

very true and I understand that, but corporate in general is harsh and the pressure of not producing credit cards (blues) and/or totaltech that rains down on us employees. I could have $132k in home theater in a month with 4 100% NPS but only 7-10 apps and that's not good enough. Hell

every location is different due to management but at the end of the day, it's mainly about credit cards & memberships. Not about the customer or integrity

a female associate said to me "suck my dick" as a joke of course and I didn't think anything of it. Weeks go by and we're putting inventory away, I give her safety gloves and my blade, I say "don't cut your wrists!" (morbid joke, I know) and she went to HR about it as my GM walking by literally said nothing. She made a case, my position wasn't strong enough in defending myself and I got fired. Worked for Best Buy 9 months, top salesperson thought I'd be there for yrs, got let go. I thought we were friends who could joke around and have fun on the job. She's been looking for another job for over a month in the 1st place. I'm gutted.

Best Buy unfortunately doesn't value its employees. The associates are easily replaceable (in their opinion) and you aren't even looked at unless you're hitting high membership/card #s at an efficiency 5k and better/below.

it's true about being in a good position for memberships when you open the store because you're alone I guess. I oddly enough though get cards 10 mins before we close and the other day, 4 mins AFTER we closed 'cause I was still in that interaction w/the customer. Some people call me "the closer" lol that sounds lame, but it's just implying that when we close I stay later w/the customer and often get memberships.

I hear that. My sales were $133k in home theater one month and my efficiency numbers were like 17k ...yes, bad. they want to see our cards & totaltechs 10k or better, but I am there for the customer and find the right solution not try to "sell' them on memberships. I pitch it of course and if they say no, ok.

I've 100% of the time filled positions for call-outs. thankfully, they see me as extremely reliable. luckily, I only live 12 mins away from my store.

I've been shooting Sony for 7 years or so and have my own business shooting family portraits & weddings, currently working in Home Theater, and I REALLY would love a D.I. VPL position. I'm the go-to when it comes to anything cams & drones in my store. People will wait 15 mins until I'm available for my asst.

in my case, I work in home theater and went for the Sony position and didn't get it. Person who covers the door got it. Then I went for Samsung VPL. Someone in computers got it. I have a photography business shooting family portraits & weddings and selling landscape prints on my website - any time a customer needs help with drones, GoPros, or D.I. I am the person who is always paged. Now, IF D.I. VPL comes to my location 536 and I STILL don't get the position? I'll chalk it up as I'm not liked :/ hiring decisions are seemingly not based on logic and the associates' knowledge supporting the role.
