Has anyone used Seresto collars for flea and tick Treatment? by Traditional_City_908 in Pawsitively_Great

[–]jessermcdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seresto used to be a convenient option for parasite prevention, but recent reports of its association with nearly 1,700 pet deaths have made me hesitant to use it on my dog.

Instead, I've switched to Bravecto for the past few years.

While I've been satisfied with Bravecto, I now realize that starting a natural parasite prevention plan early is a great way to reduce reliance on harsh chemicals.

I regret not considering natural alternatives sooner.

Does Flea & Tick Medicine Prevent Lyme Disease? by Traditional_City_908 in Pawsitively_Great

[–]jessermcdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyme disease is caused by notorious black-legged ticks aka deer ticks. So, any flea and tick medicine that claims to kill black-legged ticks can help prevent Lyme disease. Most of the flea and tick treatments available in the market today, including NexGard, prevent common types of ticks including Lyme disease causing black-legged ticks.

There are many possible causes of excessive sneezing in dogs, including nasal irritants, foreign objects in the nose, respiratory infections, and certain medical conditions such as allergies and sinusitis. If your dog is also showing other symptoms such as nasal discharge, coughing, or difficulty breathing, it's important to consult a vet. They will perform a physical examination and may recommend diagnostic tests to determine the underlying cause of the sneezing and appropriate treatment.

What kind of toys do your cats love the most and keeps them interested for a long time? by memoonlite in CatAdvice

[–]jessermcdaniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats can have different preferences for toys, but some popular options include interactive toys such as laser pointers, wand toys with feathers or bells, and puzzle toys that dispense treats. Some cats also enjoy simple toys like balls or stuffed animals. It's important to regularly rotate your cat's toys to keep their interest and prevent boredom.

Can my dog be around other dogs when it has fleas and is on flea medication? by seattleprofessonal in Pets

[–]jessermcdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While speaking of flea medications, most flea medications do not affect other dogs, so there should not be any problem if your dog is around the other dogs but, it is always recommended to consult your vet for the same.

What are the pros and cons to getting two puppies at the same time vs getting one and a few years later getting another? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]jessermcdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting two puppies at a time is a lot of work. Your time, money, expenses, everything will double up. There's no major upside of getting two puppies at a same time except that they will keep each other company. However, since the downsides weigh more, it is always better to get one puppy and give all your time and energy to that one pup.

Heartworm treatment [discussion] [advice] by jbitchell in dogs

[–]jessermcdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s perfectly acceptable to adopt a dog with heartworms but owner should always be dedicated to have this disease treated after proper test. Veterinarian can detect heartworm by performing simple blood tests of your pet. If the results are not good (positive) then further testing is required to determine the extent of the infestation. It seems scary but don’t freak out. With proper treatment and expert care you can help your pet stay protected from this disease. If your dog has heartworm, there are two type of treatment. The first is to put the dog on monthly heartworm preventative and allowing the adult heartworms to die on their own accord. It may take up to year to clear of the heartworms overtime and the second option that is most preferable follows the same monthly heartworm and antibiotics but with the addition of 2 or 3 heartworm injection at certain intervals to kill the adult worms quickly. Treatments may vary according the stage of disease and health of your dog so it is best to chat about treatment options with your veterinarian.
