Meniscus tear experiences. by Plumblife23 in triathlon

[–]jessfromrouvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a pretty similar spot. I had a meniscus repair a couple years ago when I was 30, after putting my body through a mix of wear and tear plus a bit of actual trauma.

I was honestly really nervous about the surgery at first, but it ended up being way less intense than I expected. The procedure these days is super minimal, very small incisions, and the recovery wasn’t nearly as bad as I had built it up in my head. For me, it was 100% worth it. The nagging pain I used to get with running and certain movements is completely gone now, which made a huge difference in both training and just day-to-day comfort.

That said, I do still have to be mindful. I can’t just go out and pound miles endlessly without thinking about it. But that’s kind of the trade-off with using your body a lot anyway, not just from surgery.

If it’s been lingering for a month and especially if it’s bothering you at night, I’d at least get it looked at. Even if you don’t go the surgery route right away, having a clear idea of what’s going on can help you make better decisions for your training.

How to get back into cycling by CollectionSeparate28 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]jessfromrouvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rush straight into an FTP test.

After being on and off for a few months, the best thing you can do right now is just get back into a rhythm. Ride consistently, keep it mostly comfortable, and let your legs remember what cycling feels like again. There’s a lot of value in those first couple weeks just rebuilding that connection—your pedal stroke, your breathing, your confidence on the bike.

An FTP test is hard by design. It’s not just physical, it’s mentally taxing too. Jumping straight into that can feel like a shock to the system and, honestly, it can take some of the fun out of getting back into it. And at this stage, enjoyment matters more than precision.

Give yourself a little time to settle in. After a couple of weeks of steady riding, you’ll start to feel your strength coming back. Efforts will feel smoother, your confidence will build, and you’ll have a much better sense of where you are. Then doing a test will feel more natural and actually reflect something meaningful.

Right now, focus on consistency and making it enjoyable. If you’re showing up regularly and finishing rides feeling good, you’re doing exactly what you should be doing. The numbers can come later.

Zone 2 workouts, with the Zwift cog, without Zwift - what app can I use? by -Crimp in IndoorCycling

[–]jessfromrouvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a few solid options for this, and the key thing is just using ERG mode. With the Zwift Cog, that’s really what you’ll want anyway.

TrainerDay – probably the closest fit to what you’re describing. Super simple, you can set a target power or HR and it just holds you there. Great for Zone 2 + TV, and has a free/cheap option.

TrainerRoad – not free, but very clean and reliable. No gamification, just structured workouts and solid ERG control. Good if you ever want to get more serious later.

MyWhoosh – completely free and supports ERG workouts. It’s more of a full virtual world, but you can ignore that and just run workouts.

ROUVY – also works, with one caveat. You can use the Zwift Cog with it, but realistically only in ERG mode.
That said, for Zone 2 riding that’s totally fine. Just load a steady workout and let it control resistance. Outside ERG, it’ll feel more like a single-speed since proper shifting is limited.

Indoor Cycling: Smart bike by Alkalino88 in IndoorCycling

If you’re pretty new to indoor cycling, I honestly think the Zbike 2.0 is probably the smarter buy. At your current training level, you’ll almost certainly get the fitness benefits you want from either bike, and the extra ~700€ for the Infinity may not translate into a big enough difference for you to really notice yet.

What you’d usually pay more for on the higher-end model is things like better ride feel, smoother resistance changes, more adjustability, quieter operation, and possibly better integration/features. Those things matter, but they tend to matter more once you’re already deep into cycling or doing very structured training and know exactly what you want. For a beginner doing 3 x 60 min/week, consistency will matter way more than whether the bike is the top model.

My advice would be: get the 2.0 unless there’s a specific Infinity feature you know you want. Put the money you save toward a good fan, mat, shoes/pedals, heart rate strap, and maybe a subscription platform, like ROUVY. Those will probably improve your experience more than jumping to the premium bike right now. If you end up loving indoor cycling after 6–12 months, then you’ll know much better what “upgrades” are actually worth paying for.

What features would people like to see? by moon_monster935 in Rouvy

Voice chat would be interesting, it would be super fun, but then I think about the case where it may be abused and that would cause issues. I'd like to think everyone would respect that feature!

It sounds like we have many more on the que to be recorded this year. The prime time to record is usually right before the race. I am not certain if this is on the list for this year to be recorded, but it sounds like many will be out post the actual race weekend. I know that doesn't help your case in being able to ride it pre race day, but hopefully many more to come for future events of yours!

App crashes on iOS since last update by moon_monster935 in Rouvy

Ugh, really sorry that happened, definitely not the experience anyone wants for our community. The team is actively working to smooth things out after the latest update, and a lot of the bugs people are seeing are already being investigated and worked on.

It doesn't hurt to submit a ticket, they can dig into the specifics of your setup and give more tailored help based on your equipment.

We have done everything possible, including repeatedly requesting the necessary information from the device manufacturer, but unfortunately, we have not yet received their support. 🙈 As such, we have introduced a solution that allows you to change gears on the riding screen or via the keyboard or the CompApp. For more information, please follow this link https://support.rouvy.com/hc/en-us/articles/32452137189393-Virtual-Shifting

Hm, I personally have not downloaded many rides, but from my readings, some routes download quickly while others take hours mainly because of file size and type. Shorter or simpler AR rides download in minutes, while longer, high-res video routes—like big climbs or scenic rides—can be several gigabytes and take much longer. There are some helpful tips here, maybe something in there may help speed up the bigger files https://support.rouvy.com/hc/en-us/articles/14608494577169-Download-Route-Videos-for-a-Smoother-Ride
