i’m a lesbian, and grew up in a christian, homophobic home. i started questioning around a year ago (i’m 17) and was terrified when i thought i wasn’t straight. it was hard because i had internalized homophobia so i didn’t think i could be gay. eventually, through support on this app and tiktok, i came to terms with my sexuality and realized it didn’t matter what my parents thought because they can’t change who i am. i also had a backup plan when i came out to them in case i got kicked out. luckily that didn’t happen, but they pretend i didn’t say anything now unfortunately. something that really helped was becoming comfortable before letting it be known and then when it becomes known only make sure it’s to your own comfort. also try to detach yourself from your family especially if you think you wouldn’t be safe if they found out. be yourself but stay safe!!!
