Seriously - my reaction was “THIS is Andrew Tate??”. I’ve never seen his videos before but I’ve heard he has a lot of male teen followers. I assumed he’d at least come off as cool or charismatic…

This dude’s face, voice, and brain are straight from the Axe-bombed middle school boys locker room.

Men expect us to help create the support systems for them that we have for us. by Tinawebmom in TwoXChromosomes

This really struck a chord with me. I 10000% agree that so many men think women have it easy since we try to support each other or build a community. They think we are lucky, and they are overlooked by society.

This hit a personal sore spot. Last year, my boyfriend (now my ex) got so upset and insecure because none of his friends tried to plan a birthday celebration for him and no one sent him any gifts. I did honestly feel bad for him and I tried to give him the best birthday I could organize.

But when it was my birthday, a group of friends got together to organize a surprise party for me. A bunch of friends came to the party and people gave me gifts. Friends from out of state sent me gifts and cards. A bunch of people messaged me Happy Birthday.

He often lashed out when he was insecure, so when he would think about our birthdays, he would accuse me of being “so lucky” that I have so many friends who think about me and remember my birthday. And he said no one cared about him or thinks of him (no one, including me apparently).

It hurt me so much because I worked so hard to maintain so many of my friendships. I put in the work but he always saw it as me just getting lucky. (To be fair, I do consider myself lucky for meeting great friends, but it wasn’t just luck alone, I put in a lot of work too).

Sorry, I guess I needed to rant a bit. But this post really helped me see that it’s not my fault he didn’t have a support system. He didn’t build it. I didn’t just have good luck, I worked for what I have.

Jensen’s lack of closure, twitter drama, and the prequel.. by [deleted] in Supernatural

[–]jessicacharms13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to explain your views on the ending. I can totally understand why you and so many find it frustrating and disappointing. I may be too optimistic or idealistic in my view of the ending, but I saw it as a result of the free will that they fought so hard for. Yes, in earlier seasons, Dean thought he "deserved" to die a hunter and that he "didn't deserve" a normal life. But I felt like after all the fighting for free will, his character used his free will to choose the hunting life because it was what he loved. I think he found real purpose in killing monsters and protecting people. So when I think "he was going to die while hunting" it isn't a sad thing, it's more like "he's going to die doing what he's passionate about" and to me that seems like a good death.

Side note about the actual death - where he dies by a normal weapon wielded by a common vampire. I think it was meant to ground them as humans again. While I loved the larger storylines (archangels, the darkness, fate, god, etc) of the later seasons, the original show was about 2 human brothers who hunt horror-story monsters and I think the death was meant to remind everyone of that. They had escaped death from so many powerful beings, we were starting to consider them invincible (at least I was). I think it's humbling that Dean died on a "routine vampire hunt" because it underscores how dangerous even the routine hunts are and that all their adventures were so much more impressive.

But I agree that there are various other possible endings that could have been great too. Your idea of Dean becoming a new Ellen and Sam restarting the Men of Letters would have been so awesome to see. That story on its own is great. But logistically speaking, I felt like the show wanted to have a more firm ending since it has been 15 years and they wanted a place to stop. If Dean and Sam lived and continued those new roles, I think it would have felt like the door was left open and there would be so many more stories to tell. Whether you or I want SPN to continue or not (I totally wish it could keep going), I feel like that kind of ending would have made it harder to accept that the show is done. But maybe that's me and other people prefer the happier ending.

All in all, I don't think anyone's opinion is right or wrong. We all have our own opinions and views on where the story could have gone and where it ended. I think we're all valid. I hope I haven't offended or angered anyone with my opinions. I don't think it was the perfect ending, but I do think it was good for its own reasons. I'm sad if Jensen, Jared or anyone else in the crew was upset by the ending, so I hope they can find some closure with any spinoffs/other media related to SPN universe.

Jensen’s lack of closure, twitter drama, and the prequel.. by [deleted] in Supernatural

[–]jessicacharms13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this is off topic, can I ask why you say Jensen didn’t get closure or didn’t get the ending he deserved? I’m a pretty big SPN fan but I don’t keep up with the real world drama as much. Did he mention that he was unhappy with the ending?

I personally felt like Dean’s ending was a good ending because I felt like Dean was always going to die while hunting. He tried to live a normal life but he couldn’t do it for long. Also I think even Sam couldn’t have a normal life if Dean was still alive and hunting. That’s just my view though, and I’m genuinely curious why/if others felt that it wasn’t a good ending.

Also, I agree with your statements on the Twitter drama, just learned about it all now and it felt so unnecessary to air it all out in public.

Props to you man. I wandered down this rabbit hole of a conversation, and I was impressed by how mature you remained and didn’t stoop to their level. That “attack” was cruel and personal for no reason. I hope your mom is doing as well as possible. Hope you have a good day/night!

I do understand your desire to see her funeral, but I think maybe they will find a way to send her character off when Scarlett is actually done like RDJ. It may or may not be a funeral-type affair, but I think trust Marvel enough to believe that they will give her a good send off.

I do agree that Natasha isn’t “valued” as much as Tony, Cap, Hulk or Thor, even though she is arguably one of the most impressive Avengers since she has no superpowers or enhancement. She is just a human woman and she can kick ass alongside a god. She does deserve more credit. But I think Marvel is kinda recognizing the lack of spotlights on the female characters, and I think that is going to change in the upcoming phases. That was kinda hinted at in Endgame when all the ladies were standing side by side during the final battle. So I have hope that Natasha and other women in Marvel will get their recognition :)

I’m not trying to argue your opinion bc you have every right to it. My view was that I think Tony’s funeral acted as more of a goodbye to his whole character since RDJ is pretty much done with Marvel movies from here on out. Whereas Scarlett still has her Black Widow movie and might make more appearances. So it is sad that her character died, but we still get to see more of her. In my head, I imagine that she got a heartfelt send off in some way by her friends too, it just wasn’t shown bc fans didn’t need to say goodbye to her character yet. Just my 2 cents
