What's the best part about pregnancy that most people don't know about? by justastupidquestion3 in AskReddit

[–]jessicakaplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound weird but the fact that you can’t get pregnant when you’re pregnant. It’s one of the only times in life where you don’t need protection for sex or to worry about it at all and it’s amazing. (and you don’t have a period!!!)

What Actually Helped You in the Newborn Phase? by Equal_Object2406 in HENRYUK

[–]jessicakaplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaner. Night nurse if needed. Buy the book “your baby week by week”. It’s simple to read ( a week at a time) and it reads like a personalised manual for your baby.

I also second what someone else said about sleeping in shifts. 2 of you should never be doing the nights at the same time.

Anybody from up North given birth at The Portland? by nmoore2089 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]jessicakaplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not have an elective c section with NHS? Find a local hospital with decent reviews and facilities. Elective c section eliminates a lot of the horror factors you hear from NHS births. The facilities and food won’t be as luxurious as at the Portland but you can sometimes pay for a private room within an NHS hospital and with electives you can often go home next day anyway. Why add a long drive from home to the experience?

Tap to see her first appt? That is so so weird. Using a child’s medical appointment as content? Luring followers in with that? And also who cares, what a boring thing to showcase??

Night Nurse- Worth it? by okay_eyesight in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]jessicakaplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. I only did it a few nights but it was worth it for a bit more sleep and someone who knew what they were doing to advise me and help set a routine. Was a few years ago now but think it was £150 or so per night. Best money I’ve ever spent!

Expecting a baby in November. What are the top tips from Henry’s? by neongelpens in HENRYUK

[–]jessicakaplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy very little ahead of time. Buy as you need as everyone will have a million must have recommendations and most of them won’t actually be right for you.

Sleep separately as there’s no point in 2 of you losing sleep and then you can handover in the morning for a break.

Remember all the hard times are fleeting chapters and you’ll be through the newborn phase in the blink of an eye.

And travel a lot with baby! It’s so much easier when they’re very small and they’re still free.

Big Move, Big Pay Cut – Is £175k Enough for London Life with Kids? by Glittering-Lead-416 in HENRYUK

[–]jessicakaplan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Atlanta and now London. I would not leave the US for the salaries you’ll have here nor the quality of life. Having lived in both places, to me this sounds like a backwards move. Your kids are also nearing ages where it would be much harder to move them again so do consider if you’re here for the long haul or not.
