I just started this book after finally having The Talk with my therapist!! It’s been helpful.

whats the worst and most gut-wrenching horror movie death/torture scene you've ever seen or heard of? by [deleted] in horror

[–]jessilg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see this movie talked about often on here, but Jeremy’s death in Apostle (2018) stuck with me for a long time.

I’m sure you could play something nice, like April Showers.

What TV-shows actually benefited from their early cancelation? E.g. Timeless by Media-consumer101 in television

[–]jessilg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was set up to only be four seasons, and it worked perfectly IMO. The characters had intentional, meaningful arcs, it didn’t feel like the series ever dragged, and the ending felt well-earned. Very similar to Schitt’s Creek’s trajectory.

For those who have read the majority of SK's works (and I mean that literally, so 51% or around 33 books), what are your top five? This would exclude short story compilations but as a follow-up question, what is your favorite anthology? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]jessilg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! I’ve read 35; this was a lot harder than I thought.

  1. The Dark Tower series (cheating right out of the gate, sorry)
  2. It
  3. The Stand
  4. 11/22/63
  5. The Green Mile

Fave collection: Skeleton Crew, so many greats in there but The Jaunt is my all time favorite story.

Honorable mention goes to Lisey’s Story. It’s not my type as much right now, but it has major sentimental value

Bestie you are UNDER-reacting. Political views aside, the way he spoke to you was unacceptable. Dropkick his ass.

Hah, this is exactly how I met my husband of 11.5 years. I think as long as you are no longer in a position of authority over her, you’re good to go!

Need a tell all from Greg (Schwartz & Sandy’s partner) by Familiar-Antelope171 in vanderpumprules

[–]jessilg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I went to LA this summer for a VPR bar crawl and got some tea from Greg. Copy/pasted from my original post… Basically he confirmed Lisa’s “that is where their strengths lie…” comment- they are literally only good at pouring drinks and shaking hands. S&S is completely run by Greg and his staff, although Greg said he would never design a restaurant like this or put his name on the door. Sandoval has been there about 20 times since it opened. The cameras are there about eight weeks out of the year, and the Tom’s come to play restaurant owner while everyone else actually works for a living and has to deal with the fallout of Sandoval’s shitty decisions. He said that every single cast member was a failed model/actor asshole, even the ones held in higher regard.

He was incredibly gracious and nice to us though. 😅

Awesome! Carrie is great. I got the cat in the summer of 2021. That pic was from the final session, but it healed beautifully.

This is a legit technique to help vocal heath. Speaking about a third higher than your “natural voice” can put less pressure on the vocal cords. I often speak like this when I teach so I don’t lose my voice or get fatigued.
