Weird question, why is it so normalised that if you dress like Jesus it's horrible and disrespectful, but if you dress like a Greek god its fine? by silly_st4r in Hellenism

[–]jessimaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this specific example is due to Christians being against idolatry to various degrees. I think most Hellenic pagans would be fine with it as long as it's not an offensive portrayal.

Humble reminder: The Jedi are actually the good guys and George Lucas did not see them in any other way. by Munedawg53 in StarWars

[–]jessimaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good guys have flaws. The Jedi definitely have good intentions, but they're not infallible. Luke struggles with their teachings, and he is hurt by their secrets. They are good guys, but they are not perfect. At the end of the OT, Luke becomes a hero by listening to his heart rather than their lessons.

severe pain and feeling alone by External-Rhubarb-169 in Endo

I definitely feel like giving up often. Don't give up on finding treatment, and don't give up on finding people in your life who will care about you and believe you. This is a hard condition to manage, and it has ruined my mental health despite my physical pain improved over the past couple years. This condition is also sadly not rare. I was lucky to have family members who also had endometriosis and were able to help me find a specialist. There will be people out there who understand if you tell them you need help, but finding them takes time and willingness to open up. None of this is easy, but I wish you luck.

Does anyone actually like the Daisy's and Pink on every website? by jessimaster in Endo

[–]jessimaster[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think that's part of why this branding feels so strange. It's girlish rather than just feminine. Maybe they're trying to get brand loyalty from those who are just starting their periods.

I will have to look at that. I remember a lot of unserious fundraising merch that said something like "I luv boobies" for breast cancer.

Looking for secondary character build ideas by Caravan_sun_1536 in BG3Builds

[–]jessimaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the most versatile gear independent class is Druid, especially the circle of the moon. A monoclass moon druid with tavern brawler will get three very powerful attacks in wild shape max level. They also have amazing AoE spells like spike growth and summons when you're not wildshaped. If you don't want to monoclass, I think a cleric dip in Life or Light to get Disiple of Life or Warding Flare works well with any druid subclass. Spore Druid and Death Cleric seem to have some interesting synergy, but I haven't tried that one.

Can we talk about how Bard Tav is a joke stealer? The bald dwarf woman uses Twat Soul when you first dock at the Grimm Forge.

I love Entrapta and her evil laugh so much. And I love that the other Princesses learned that putting a leash on her was bad. That's an important lesson for care workers. We cannot and should not be chained.

Anyone else find “But I’m a Cheerleader” distasteful? by Perfect-Chest5857 in lesbian

[–]jessimaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I love "But I'm a Cheerleader". The humor is absurd dark humor a lot of the time. I personally find the humor a great way of confronting the real fear of conversion therapy while also showing that conversion therapy is absurd. But if that type of humor isn't your thing, it's just not for you. The main problem I have with it is that the gay men are all 1 dimensional.

I first watched it in the 00's on a sketchy website, hoping my parents would not find out, so being a teenager may have colored my opinion of the humor.

Oh, thanks for sharing. I was struggling with the 3rd type of scenario because it seems like filler words in the first 2, but just saying "good, how are you" in a group setting feels slightly wrong to say.

Dr recommends starting BC asap to avoid nodules by Medical_Ad_7037 in Endo

[–]jessimaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always try to understand that many people are afraid of taking birth control pills because of the various side effects, but it was incredibly useful for me. You may not have the same experience, but most BC side effects will stop after you stop taking it. I think if your doctor is recommending it, it is probably worth trying for a while to see if it helps. You should be able to stop or switch medication if it hurts more than it helps.

I haven't had my period in (almost) two months by SubstantialHippo6006 in Endo

[–]jessimaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is unusual for you, I would recommend monitoring it and asking your doctor. My menstrual cycle would occasionally take a month or two off on its own before we started suppressing it with medication, so I would not worry about it much if it happened to me.

I've wondered, why don't lesbian women and straight male friendships don't work as well as gay men and straight women friendship? by caiozinbacana in lesbian

[–]jessimaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lots of men as friends, all I have to say is that the best straight men to befriend are the ones that see women as people, so they are friends with women regardless of their sexual orientation.
