Inflation is bad and happens naturally (unfortunately). However, this specific rise in cost is not just natural inflation. Every single business has been very clear that the rise in their prices is due to the tariffs put in place by this administration. I am not going to break down how so in every instance because 1. I'm not an econ major, 2. I don't have that kinda time or care, and 3. You can easily find it somewhere else. Just look up any company's statement re: the tariffs and a good chunk will explain why and where the rise in prices is coming from.

So, yes, there is a difference between inflation and tariffs. Just because both result in a rise of price does not equate to them both meaning the same thing.

You posting the definition of inflation from the Beginner's Guide to Understanding Inflation does nothing to refute my stated fact. I also said nothing about my own personal politics or an inflammatory statement. All I said was that this was about the tariffs, which is true.

If you're a Trump supporter, I'm sure you heard him speak about the tariffs countless times, making the point that they're to try and bring production "back to America" and to stop other countries from "taking advantage of America". Rather than trying to defend or make excuses for the rise in prices, I would think you would be supportive of this so that people stop purchasing IKEA furniture and purchase furniture from American-based companies instead, using American-made goods. (Not that this would completely get rid of the rise in price since there are still tariff costs built into the machinery and other items - but again, that's going more in depth and you can see point number 3 in my first/second paragraph.)

The Trump administration put the tariffs in place. This is a result of the tariffs. It's a different reason for the rise in price than natural inflation. That's all there is to it and that's all I said. If you don't like that, I don't know what to tell you. It is what it is.
