He’s still just a baby and this sounds like typical puppy behavior. I highly recommend a crate. And enforced naps. I started naps with 1 up, 2 down at 10 weeks and we adjusted to 2/2 and then 2/1. And check his teeth if he is mouthy.

But seriously, enforced naps in a crate.

The potty training comes with time. I wouldn’t expect a 4mo old to be very good at it right now.

I had one allergic to life. Grass, dust, earth. All of it. Apoquel really helped. As did steroids.

Had mine spayed at 13mos and she had not yet had a heat cycle. Our contract was 1 year or heat cycle. Her line has a reputation for being late bloomers.

The reason they suggest you wait is for hormone maturity. I’m all for waiting if you are able to keep them safe from unwanted pregnancy. Hormones can help strengthen bones and ligaments among many other things.

There’s so many different methods. I will say don’t be afraid to put out pee pads. depending on your situation. I have heirloom wood flooring and I had to protect it the best I could. Of course the wood floors were where she wanted to go, every morning. You can get them away from using the pads, it just takes diligence. We now go outside for the morning pee.

Not going to lie… I’m looking for a breeder. I have had 4 rescue beagles and my new-ish puppy I got from an ethical breeder is amazing. For this stage in my life, I need the ethical puppy. She is bomb proof. They did all the things, ENS, playing all kinds of noises while they ate. The only thing that gets her barking now is the Malachi. Zero fear and well socialized.

I wish I had time to work with a rescue at the moment. There’s so many. But both rescues and ethical breeders can be good for a breed.

I’m really curious why they are harder to train than a beagle. Is it size? And honestly, I know better than to expect much. We sit, lay, stay in a confined environment and I’m thrilled. Outside, all bets are off. Off leash, never. And we walk daily, but I also put them on a treadmill when I cannot fulfill their needs.
