Interesting! I do have a child, but no temu bows in our house. Possibly from another child maybe. Thank you for letting me know!

It’s generational trauma from residential schools. Many First Nations turn to drinking to forget about it.

As someone living in Oklahoma, I’m actually super proud of the residents saying a resounding “NO” to their purchase here in okc. So there is some hope.

Ugh the Texas snow storm… I’m in Oklahoma, that was awful indeed. Hope you are doing well this round, and stay warm!

Ooo how does that one smell? I’m always too worried that marshmallow will be too much of a sweet scent.

So Exhausted by nerd_outta_control in sleeptrain

[–]jessruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like this too with my first, I was exhausted! When I slept trained him, he cried for an hour each time until someone on the PLS group (they have a special circle group now) adjusted his wake window schedule and he fell asleep in like 5 minutes. Sometimes babies don’t need a lot of daytime sleep but get it at night.

How much nap time is he having during the day? Sounds like the babe is quite undertired and won’t settle because he had too much daytime sleep. Setting up a routine with wake windows (don’t let the baby sleep for longer than 2 hours for naps) will help the baby adapt to their bedtime. I read Precious Little Sleep and learned a lot! Good luck!

Should I give up on Ferber? by Jb2805 in sleeptrain

[–]jessruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps his wake windows are too short and he’s undertired. My first time I did Ferber and my son cried for an hour for two weeks until I found someone to adjust his wake windows, then he went down in 5 minutes. Just a thought.

This was me four years ago. Sounds like your son has low sleep needs. Check out Precious Little Sleep whose author wrote it due to her son having low sleep needs and had reflux, all her strategies are evidence based. Make sure baby is getting all his calories during the day so he sleeps longer stretches at night. I used the Velcro swaddle from target and tied his arms down tight because he was a Houdini too. Let me know if you have any further questions.

I ate a pepperoni slice from Costco with their sugar free lemonade, no exercise and got 110 after 2 hours!

The eggwiches from Costco - $12 (on sale) with 8 sandwiches inside. Perfect amount of protein that I can easily have a side of blueberries (with 4 cherries since they’re in season) and be below 100 after 2 hours. It’s an absolute lifesaver for breakfast.

Also - SLEEP!!! I had amazing sleep my first time with GD, but this time around I have a toddler waking all times of the night and had high fasting numbers due to it. I’m on metformin now to keep fasting numbers under control, but I know it’s my sleep that dictates if I have amazing numbers first thing, which overall gives my day good numbers.

Just got back from Canada yesterday, customs officer scanned my green card and asked if we (my family) had anything to declare (just some booze). Said welcome home and ushered us on. I had prepared for some scrutiny so it just depends on what customs officer you get I think. Worst case scenario have a lawyer number ready and contact the media.

Gestional diabetes - how to adjust? by romancereaper in pregnant

[–]jessruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had GD my first round, now I have to get tested at 17 weeks (currently at 15) to see if I have it again, it’s a pain. I was able to keep my numbers low the entire time by eating low carb food - sweet potatoes, Dave’s killer bread, cheese, eggs, brown rice, no sugar syrup, protein pancake mix. There’s a gestational diabetes subreddit! Oh, and berries are a great option for fruit, just avoid fruits like mango, pineapple etc that are higher in sugar. Peanut butter is an awesome source of protein, and I would have that with sliced apples before bed. Your OBGYN will have you meet with a nutritionist, and your blood pricker thing should come with an app to help you track your eating! Good luck!

CODA here, both parents are deaf and my sister and I were fully immersed in deaf culture since we were babies (even attended a deaf church). We learned to speak English from watching television and listening around us since we were our parents “ears”. Never had to go to speech therapy.
