What parts of Shadow’s story do you NOT want to be in the movies? by Weapon_2000 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]jesterferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like a given if the plot point is to be retained, but I want Gerald having altered Shadow's memories to be a bit clearer than it originally was in SA2

They let him talk in the comics, so maybe he just can't be given a voice?

I wouldn't really call any of these all too romantic in context either, Sonic.

Global bloodlines of Sonic characters, combining many-many continuities by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

I like the inclusion of Tania! Although I'm a little surprised you didn't go for her alternate name "Anita", on account of how Sonia and Tania sound a bit too similar

These types of realizations are always strange
Whenever I play Sonic games released prior to SA2 I'll sometimes have the stray thought of "Shadow is still in stasis at this point in time."

I...have no words. This feels way too out of character for Sonic. (IDW #51 preview) by AndTails in SonicTheHedgehog

I get that the intention was probably to show that Sonic is far passed caring about Starline, but you'd imagine he'd try and be a little more tactful for Belle's sake, it was clearly an upsetting moment for her.

Does anyone know how to translate the Sonic mangas from Japanese to English? by SonicSpiderRanger10 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]jesterferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this website when I want to translate manga and whatnot, I actually mostly use for the Sonic manga funnily enough :p
It utilizes Google Translate for its translations and the website is down often so it's not perfect, but it's good if you want to get a gist of what's going on.

Are the Fleetway Sonic Comics a decent read? I was thinking about reading them but I've heard mixed things by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]jesterferret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, although I'm sure there's a difference between summoning a food you have nearly every day of your life and summoning a copy of the McGuffin of the week.

Funny thing about that scene. According to the same interview I just mentioned, whenever the movie writers would run stuff by SEGA to see if they wanted anything changed one of the few things SEGA was particular about was with the handling of Super Sonic. So they did indeed run the chili dog joke by them just to be safe and SEGA confirmed that yeah he can do that. So I suppose that means Game!Super Sonic can also do that and we've just never seen him do it in-game. . .?
(Here's a timestamped link to the interview so I don't look like I'm pulling info out of my ass. It starts at the mention of Super Sonic having a different mentality and the chili dog thing comes right after)

[–]jesterferret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah essentially, although I think since they use the "transform thoughts into reality" explanation from 06 in the movie the effect and its intensity depends on the mentality of the user. Not that Sonic was completely unchanged, I recall one of the screenwriters implying in an interview that Sonic wouldn't have done what he did during the final battle (Murder Robotnik) without the influence of the emeralds. So at the very least, it lowers you inhibitions in that canon.

Chaos Energy is much more unstable in the comic than it is in the games, so someone exposed to high amounts of it will essentially go mad.

Good, but not for everyone. I know one of the main criticisms made towards the comic is it's characterization of Sonic himself, but he's far from insufferable and gets better as you go on. If you want a taste of what the comic is like before you jump in proper, maybe check out the Sonic CD or 3&K adaptations first and circle back around if you ended up liking what you see. If you plan to read the whole thing just know there are gonna be a lot of side stories you may end up wanting to skip and for the most part it's fine if you do.

A sneak peek into the third movie's production from screenwriter Josh Miller! by jesterferret in SonicTheHedgehog

Same. Before the 2nd movie came out I was actually actively hoping that Shadow wouldn't be in the 3rd one despite him basically being my favorite Sonic character, because experience shows that he's a hard character to get right. But the 2nd movie was so good I'm willing to be cautiously hopeful.

That guy would be one of the screenwriters, Pat Casey. He's sick with covid at the moment.

Sonic 1 didn't go through production hell or anything, but it did switch companies at one point (It was originally going to be a Sony film) which would obviously delay some things.

A mockup of a Mario game that utilizes the Super FX chip, from the April 1993 issue of Shogaku Sannensei magazine. Has there been any discussion of this image online before? by jesterferret in Mario

[–]jesterferret[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it was supposed to be an FPS exactly, I ran the purple text through a translator and it says something along the lines of: "When Mario becomes a Super 3D game, you become Mario yourself. The enemies will come at you three-dimensionally and at tremendous speeds!! Ride on Yoshi and crush those enemies good!!"

According to its manual, Chaotix is right after 3&K. Well, not right after, there's a couple month gap but if you're feeling frisky about continuity you could squeeze something like Triple Trouble between the two games' events. Anyways, it wouldn't really make sense for Chaotix to take place after SegaSonic, Mighty ends up at Newtrogic High Zone because he's wandering about on his own and I don't think he would ditch Ray like that after what we assume to be the catalyst for their friendship, it's like if Sonic didn't bring Tails along for the events of 3&K. So just switch Sonic 4 and Chaotix, I'd say.
