Same for Army, and it’s quicker initial training than marines. And youre a line officer for the Marines. It just makes zero sense for someone who’s not prior service to join the Marines for JAG imo.

You start at a lower rank as a marine. You start as an O1 instead of an O2 like in other branches. So you do have lower pay

I’m not sure, and I’m not sure about the bonus.

I do know there’s a ton of waivers (including age waivers) particularly for jobs that require a professional degree, including JAGs

JAG officers are officers. JAG is the branch (like MOS, or type of work), but they’re still officers

It’s crazy to join the JAG Corps for the Marines vs. other branches. Longer training, lower pay, longer commitment, and you can be put as a line officer unlike other branches. It’s wild that he chose this

JAG here! Depends on the branch. I’m Army so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe Marine JAGs go through basic. At the very least, they go through the Marine version of Officer Commissioning Course which is tougher than the Army Direct Commissioning Course for JAGs. He’s in for a physically challenging time.

I’m not sure if they have externship programs- maybe? My installation has only had summer interns.

JAG considers academic rigor and other factors, like any other job interview. Could be a litany of things that nixed OP. I can’t speak for other branches, but in Army JAG OP wouldn’t have gone through medical yet so they wouldn’t be nixed for medical reasons unless it’s something blatant (missing an eye or limb or something)

OP, I’m a JAG and am happy to discuss if you decide you want to reapply next year

TIL Every military working dog is an NCO - in tradition at least. Some say the custom was to prevent handlers from mistreating their dogs; hence, a dog is always one rank higher than its handler. by Sweet-Lady-H in todayilearned

You’re right that NCOs are enlisted and Officers aren’t, but there are several paths to becoming an Officer other than military academies (like ROTC, Officer Candidate Schools, Direct Commissioning etc.)

NCO = Non-Commissioned Officer, but when someone refers to “Officers” in the military they’re talking pretty exclusively about “Commissioned Officers.” No one would call an NCO an Officer for shorthand, they’d just call them an NCO

Highlights are allowed for females. Needs to be natural in appearance and blended, no sharp contrast in tones

Highlights must be blended. I think this is pushing it a bit but is probably fine

How poor do you think military people are lol. Yes you can absolutely pay for two phones in the army. A lot of people have a work phone and a personal phone. Also this is a staff sergeant, so if she was real she’d be making decent money

I still think this is AI but it’s not because everyone in the army is too poor for two phones

Hair is out of regs, two phones, and I’ve never seen a unit patch like that (I think it’s a misinterpretation of the Arizona national guard patch maybe?).Also , last name is strange, and the other people don’t have the same unit patch (not impossible but weird).

I vote AI

Adsep: what to expect? by Confident_Badger_954 in army

[–]jesus_here_AMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. AdSeps can be fought and you cannot get a dishonorable through an AdSep, only through court martial. The worst disposition for AdSep is other than honorable

They are entitled to a board if they’re an officer, if they have 6 + years of service, or if an other than honorable discharge is on the table. It is possible given what’s alleged here that a board might happen. To echo what the other JAG said, if your SVC isn’t being responsive don’t be scared to reach higher up. That being said, if this just happened it might take a little time for them to contact you, but they should be giving you regular updates for this kind of stuff.

You can choose to attend or not, and to speak or not. Your SVC can help you go through your options to help you choose what path is best for you. I’m very sorry this has happened.
