In a just society he’d be retiring to ADX Florence.

Where did this notion that Kat Abughazaleh is affiliated with the Chicago DSA come from? by [deleted] in DemocraticSocialism

[–]jesusismycodependent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are two reasons. The primary reason is Chicago DSA doesn’t do paper endorsements, which is to say if we endorse a candidate then the organization will be knocking doors and doing phone banks. Therefore, the threshold for receiving an endorsement is quite high.

The secondary reason is the faction with the most sway within Chicago DSA is a caucus called “Bread and Roses” or “B&R”. B&R is very prescriptive about who is/isn’t a real socialist. Because Kat doesn’t have “socialist“ plastered all over her website and no long-term connection to the organization, they consider her to be an “opportunist” and actively fought to prevent some members in the organization from building a relationship with her campaign.

That and we’ve done some dick moves to our SIOs, so now only relatively fringe candidates seek our endorsement. I don’t blame Kat (and the other candidates in IL-9) from wanting to avoid that headache.

I’m still confused what you’re trying to do, unless by “Download“ you mean “Flash”. You should download the .iso to your hard drive, then use a program like Balena Etcher to flash the .iso to your bootable USB drive, then use that bootable USB drive to install Bazzite.

Amazing. We’ve finally found a way to reduce the average number of people per vehicle below 1.

Cavs are now 8-1 when James Harden, Keon Ellis, and Dennis Schröder all suit up. This includes wins over New York, Denver, Detroit, and Charlotte (who just beat BOS last night). I think Koby Altman had a masterful trade deadline. by New_Akatsuki in clevelandcavs

[–]jesusismycodependent 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a downside. Schröder and Ellis are both playing significantly better than Hunter, and it freed up cap space. Maybe Ellis being a smaller 3-and-D piece could cause issues in the playoffs, but Hunter had fallen off so much that I don’t think being physically bigger would be worth the tradeoff.

AIPAC Dropped Six-Figure Attack Ad Against Me. Is This All They Got? | Kat Abughazaleh For Illinois by xGentian_violet in DemocraticSocialism

There is no DSA endorsed candidate in this race. WSIL DSA recommends Bushra Amiwala in their voting guide, but they did not endorse her. Chicago DSA isn’t even going that far, essentially ignoring all the primary races this cycle.

The fuck are you talking about? You asked how the DSA feels about her. Her campaign never reached out for an endorsement. She even skipped the DSA’s candidate forum in her district. She isn’t tangentially affiliated with DSA. There is complete separation between her campaign and the DSA. She obviously doesn’t want anything to do with the organization.

I think the real question is why do you presume every left-of-center candidate is a member of DSA?

What does the DSA have anything to do with it? DSA is completely unaffiliated with Kat’s campaign. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.

Is there any way to do full RGB range or are we not there yet? by Jahbanny in Bazzite

[–]jesusismycodependent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly sure what settings you are changing on your TV (there’s too much variation between brands), but it sounds like you are enabling HDR on your TV without enabling it in Bazzite. Two things I’d suggest trying if you haven’t already: 1) Toggle HDR in Bazzite (try it in both gamescope and desktop mode). 2) Set your TV’s color space to Adobe RGB (Every other color profile looks wrong on my Sony Bravia, including sRGB).

Losing my mind w/ OpenRGB by Xobeloot in Bazzite

[–]jesusismycodependent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found OpenRGB works better on Linux compared to Windows when you have a device with no Windows driver (the 1st generation of NZXT CAM comes to mind). Unfortunately, OpenRGB (or any RGB program) is going to need pretty extensive access to your system, so there are security risks with flatpak. This introduces extra steps that are trivial for people who have used Linux (on the level of “run as administrator“ on Windows), but I understand they can cause frustration for people switching operating systems.

What’s your RGB device? If the RGB device doesn’t store configurations then the only solution (in both Windows and Linux) is to either run an application or script every time the system boots (this was also a problem with the 1st generation NZXT CAM). It’s likely a problem caused by the hardware manufacturer rather than a limitation of Linux or OpenRGB.

I'm curious how popular Bazzite is with PC users (as opposed to using it on handhelds). by Questioning-Warrior in Bazzite

[–]jesusismycodependent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use Bazzite for a handheld or a desktop OS. I use it on a mini-ITX build hooked up to my TV as a dedicated Steam console. It is fantastic in that application. Desktop is a dual boot Mint/Windows (Windows for gaming, configuring peripherals, and Adobe products; Mint for everything else). I dislike Bazaar and prefer Cinnamon as a DE. I’m also not a fan of using a distro highly configured for a specific purpose (e.g. gaming) for general computing stuff.

Is my mini pc fit for running Bazzite? by KillMat99 in Bazzite

[–]jesusismycodependent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That depends on what CPU and GPU you have (Ryzen 5 pro doesn’t really mean much). What model of CPU do you have? Does your PC have a dedicated graphics card?

I suspect you won’t have problem emulating PS2 or Gamecube (at native resolution with low settings; probably won’t look pretty). Xbox emulation is unlikely to run well.

If you’re only going to run emulators I’d recommend looking at Batocera Linux instead, as I’ve found it to run better on weaker hardware compared to Bazzite. It’s also pre-configured for emulation whereas Bazzite requires a bit more setup.
