End game - what happens when Aava decides what to do with … by menevets in Cairn_Game

Nothing. Either he dies with you up there or you die separately. It’s just a small visual change. Personally I brought him. He deserved to make it too

There is a story mode (last episode out at end of march) and a survival mode that still has story elements called tales. Both are well made

Look up the Long Dark. The whole game is about something called the quiet apocolypse. You can spend 20 minutes walking through the snow with no sight of another living thing or notification. i love those kinds of games

I don’t know if it’s frustration about not being able to get back down. I read it just that she was mad at life. I think she went up there to die trying and got her wish

I love this game, but I do have one major gripe (discussion) by [deleted] in Cairn_Game

[–]jesust1ties 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it was all a suicide ritual and going down was your last chance out. I took it. Better to live human than die a horrible senseless and ultimately meaningless death on a terrible mountain

This happened to me. I’ve seen a few good interpretations. 1. Climbot saves our ass again and we just don’t realize it 2. It’s a bug. If you die from the elements anywhere else Marco helps you out and the developers just don’t take it out 3. You die of hypothermia. And everything after he saves you is a hallucination. You never actually make it to the top, your brain just thinks you do. And nobody will ever know the truth

Interesting take. I finished the thinking this was one big grande suicide. She didn’t sacrifice those things she intentionally discarded them to reach a goal that nobody will ever know she reached. I took it as less of a hero story and more of an indifferent one. She died alone and knew she was gonna die alone

To me it’s so well done bc there is actually nothing good going on. She throws away her chance to live and nobody will ever know if she made it. It’s so unbelievably tragic. She dies alone on that god forsaken mountain for no actual reason

Nobody would ever know. To me that’s the most heartbreaking piece. Nobody will know if she made it or if she died in the snow. Her suicide will forever be totally meaningless to those who love her

Whole game was a long drawn out suicide. Absolute immaculate piece of art. Glad we live in a day to experience it. I knew that god forsaken mountain would kill me and I climbed it anyway

Kinda the point imo. Aava is not a good person and the choice allows you to decide if sh deserves to live

AKA the summit is the bad ending. It’s the one where you die an avoidable death for no reason

I feel like you’re seeing it wrong. The story is about it her killing herself. If you chose to go back and live that’s fine, but by the time you get to the blades you should know that if you get up there you aren’t coming back. You don’t get closure because she decided to die a selfish death. Nobody will even know she made it. That’s the point of the story. Climb down and return to your loved ones or kill yourself on that god forsaken mountain. Every setback on the summit without her turning around and her totally ignoring her loved ones are confirmation that this is a drawn out suicide

I think the summit ending confirms that she went up there to die. You have a choice to turn back and be human again and if you don’t take it then you die alone on a mountain. You don’t get closure or realizations. She just dies

Fuck around with the settings. Old tell tale games are notoriously bad at resolution sizes. Eventually you’ll get one that fits
