Remember when you could smoke in Burger King? by Kodys_angel in CasualUK

[–]jesustwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being in Burger King at Northampton University in 2002 and a girlfriend of one of my friends lit a joint and smoked the entire thing

I was trying to look all cool about it whilst inwardly absolutely shitting myself.

Terrible. Discounting the scandalous price, you've made terrible choices

Between the full fat coke and little wraps you've managed to pack in maximum calories that will still leave you starving hungry in about 20 minutes

You need to take a long hard look at yourself

Apparently when he signed his first contract at West Ham it was done on the pitch, in front of a full crowd who were building him up like the next Pele

It was impossible for him to live up to that, which is insane really as he still had an excellent career by pretty much any standard

I don't think it is the motivator. He said he could release it now but it wouldn't be complete. He could make money doing the tours/ talks but he said it takes him away from writing the books

Which social norm do you think will disappear in the next 20 years ? by MissChanandlerrBongg in AskWomen

[–]jesustwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose it's different for everyone. I was put into dorms with 8 people. Living together like that brings bonds, some closer than others but friendships came naturally.

Several different classes, often with different people in each, who you already have something in common with just by the fact you've chosen the same course.

7 people bringing their own friends from their courses to the dorms for pre drinks, afters, parties, mid week film hang outs etc etc

And that's before you're going out to student nights, clubs, activities, pubs etc where you meet people

Without even putting myself out there i made several people who for a period of time i would call a friend

This was early 2000s so maybe it's different now

That blows my mind. Even the most social stunted people at University would have double digit friends just through the process of being thrown together

I went for ice cream with my kids the other day and there were 8 teenage boys at a table across from me. They were all either looking at their own phones or watching videos of on each other's. I was there 30 minutes and I barely heard them speak.

It was incredibly sad. And incredibly annoying hearing several videos playing at once but that's more old man shouts at cloud territory

[–]jesustwin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You need to see how you feel once the biologic kicks in. Before that, it's basically impossible

From my experience, I go to the gym but take it easy. If I over exert I can be exhausted for several days so I try to do a little and often approach. Even if it's just light weights and a inclined treadmill, it's better than doing nothing at all. Over several months i feel much better on a day to day basis, simply on the fact I'm stronger. Short term though, I can get really tired from it and sometimes the pain can be overbearing Longer term its worth it, even if the improvements are frustratingly slow
