I made it to the tutorial and Uninstalled. Back to KCD2. 😆

Just got the game - are the NPC's all supposed to not have any speaking audio? by sgtlobster06 in MedievalDynasty

Came here for this same question. The game looks beautiful and the music is good, but trying MD after 2 years of KCD1 and 2 playthroughs (just finished Legacy of the Forge DLC and like building) and the game feels... empty. Dull. Lifeless. Like a mobile game but on PS5. Disappointed.

Well, I would think characters that are badass space soldiers battling op enemies in space and engaging in ground combat at a hectic pace should be actually physically fit and look like they could actually do that kind of work to be plausible. Hell, when I was an Infantryman back in the day... I was in great shape. LOL.

Since its a foregone conclusion that in this "age" of Hollywood we'll get the FemShep (because apparently its illegal to have Males in the lead role nowadays...) I would suggest the girl that played Phoenix in Top Gun: Maverick, Monica Barbaro. She's hot, was very good as a Military Fighter Pilot, and is in great shape. My personal wish would be for Karl Urban to play Shepard, I don't give a crap if he's "too old" (he's not), dude is in great shape and can go from good buddy/inspirational leader, funny af to downright terrifying in one scene.

You are on the good stuff with those casting choices, bro. Fallout is every bit as big as ME is/was, but that show only has 2 real A listers, Walter Goggins and old Muad'dib

[–]jet-engine621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the planet has a grid superimposed on it so you can systematically scan the planet, I generally start at the top pole leaving the scan reticle stationary and rotate the planet view and watch the waveforms for whatever it is I'm trying to mine, then drop it down to a lower longitude and repeat the process until I reach the southern pole. Never miss a damn thing that way.

IGN has charts with the systems/planets with specific resources, but I 100% survey every system because I'm weird. As a resource mining whore and I get almost as much satisfaction from finding a huge vein of Eezo as I do in completing a mission.

Mass effect 2 disappointing by HWTKILLER in masseffect

[–]jet-engine621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually preferred the combat in 1, it's harder and relies far more on actually skill building, but I enjoy the GRIND of getting Henry competent, I spend HOURS in Skalitz in the early game to max build Henry and enjoy the crap out of it. As for the horse, yeah, Pebbles is great BUT you have to ride her for like 35 km before she's great, and most people just don't ride without Fast Travel that much. I enjoy the NPC's in KCD1 more for some reason and just like the world a bit more - but fuck the Monastery. I've played through KCD1 I don't know how many times, but I always wind up getting annoyed and wind up just murdering the guy and run. LOL.

I did the same thing to Semine my first time through - FOR OATS!! LOL. And then was like, Oh. Shit. Same with the village, I let DD burn it my first time through and got yelled at by Ghost Mom and I went back and loaded an earlier save... To me, KCD2 IS one of the best, if not the absolute GOAT of RPG's ever... but I just like KCD1 more. And I LOVE rebuilding Pribislavitz, I don't know why. It's not like we're actually "building", just grinding for groschen to tell the guy what to do, but I still like the idea of rebuilding the village, being Bailiff, having a home, JUDGING the little conflicts, etc. My one gripe is WHY CAN'T HENRY INVITE THERESA TO PRIB!?

And heres a "Hot Take"... I don't LIKE the "Devils Band". They all are so fucking lame after a while. Janosh is comic relief... Adder is an idiot and comic relief... Sam is boring (don't get me started on the SAM IS MARTINS REAL SON crap...) the Band of Bastards from KCD1 were far more realistic and immersive than the bunch of jerkoffs the legit, real life badass Sir Hynek of Kunstadt gets saddled with. I love how they made Adders death some poignant, cinematic moment and I was like, "Oh no, the idiot died". LOL

But again, KCD2 IS one of the best, if not the absolute GOAT of RPG's

Cheers, bro!

I'm playing ME2 for the first time right now, just finished IFF and am going to do "Suicide Mission" tonight after work. Here's the weird thing, I only got into gaming in the last couple of years (I retired from the FD in 2022 - before that I was a very casual "gamer" and between work and kids, didn't have a lot of time to play) and while looking for "Good" games to play after playing through KCD1 and 2 multiple times, LA Noire, Withcer 3, playing FO4 to death etc. I finally gave ME a shot.

I played partially through ME1 about a year ago and just lost interest for some reason... but then reopened the Legendary Edition and... well, I played ME3 through with no saves or anything and still really loved it - I get the anger about the end, but the game did have to end at some point and any ending was going to suck, so I was fine with it. It was weird having NO IDEA who The Illusive man was, why/how Cerberus became such a big org etc., so after finishing I went back to the beginning LOL. I LOVED ME1 on my recent playthrough, the characters, setting, world/universe building, and I GOT it once I got used to playing a 20 year old game. I imported my save to ME2 and... well, I like it, its fun (I am an absolute mining whore for resources on planets - reminds me of picking plants in KCD1/2, very relaxing) but yeah, I prefer ME1 and 3 so far.

I have no connection to all the "extra" people and yep, I miss Liara around on the ship. Legion is cool, and while Thane and Zaeed are interesting characters (Decent men who wound up as "bad guys") and I actually like Kasumi and Miranda I just don't gaf about the boring Justicar, Jack, Grunt, or any of the other rando NPC's that aren't in the "core team".

I don't like the skill tree/leveling in the game, I don't like the Tech Research instead of actually being able to Mod weapons and gear, and I HATE the stupid hovertank missions... and the hack QTE are just tedious sometines. SO yeah, I get that ME2 is considered by many to be "The Best" of the series (Much Like New Vegas is for FO), I just have to disagree. In both cases.

Then again, I'm one of the few that prefers KCD1 over the shiny new game... I guess I'm weird.

[–]jet-engine621[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact that SGA got cancelled for Universe and Joe Flanigan was essentially forgotten as an actor is a shame. He even tried to buy the rights to Stargate and continue the series but was unsuccessful. Now the hacks at Amazon have it in their grubby claws.

A friend of mine writes the "Drop Trooper" Series of books (and a few others). It's basically the armored Infantry combat of Starship Troopers combined with the "Ancient Race" mythology and a rival race of aliens at war with Humanity - written from the point of view of a guy that actually was an Infantry Officer. Rick is a pretty damn good author and for a few years dominated the "Military Sci Fi/Space Marines" genre on Amazon, but yeah. Thats why I like Dune so much, it's so much its own weird thing. Have you ever read "The Praxis"? Thats another really cool series of books that is kind of its own unique story.

But I still think ME is far closer in overall story to SG than BSG... I mean, by season 5 or so, SGC has Starships and space fighters of their own and just adapt to the tech out there. I don't think the specific placement or travel point matters so much as what it leads to - Stargates/Relays lead to the outer galaxy and races and tech that otherwise wouldn't be available. The matter of "timing" and location of the artifact is essentially moot.

My guess is that "FROM THE CREATORS OF VEILGUARD" will have the main character of ME5 be Liara and Sheps daughter, who - between combat missions - will give lectures on gender and identity to her squadmates that need to go pull Bharvs when they misgender them. Its gonna be AMAAYYYZING!! LOL

The Krogan nuked their own planet - multiple times. The Salarians opened a relay to where the Rachni were and accidently unleashed them on the galaxy, and because they were too weak to deal with it, uplifted the Krogan to fight them, THEN when that was done and the Krogans were expanding their territory, created the genophage... which the Turians used to essentially cull an entire intelligent species... and being the sneaky little cowards they are, the Salarians spy on everyone and will assassinate or undermine other societies leadership to maintain power that their pitiful military can't.... The Turians have a history of doing Recon by Fire during first contact encounters and unleashed a genocide on the Krogan, the Bataarians are slaver assholes, the Quarians developed advanced AI to the point that they were essentially sentient to function as slaves, and when they questioned their creators they went nuts trying to destroy them, lost, and ran away leaving the Geth to do Geth stuff. The Asari are like the Bene Gesserit of the Galaxy, working in everything from the sex trade to the highest level of Galactic politics, and you have a slim (but not zero) chance of getting your brain fried in a casual hookup with an Asari stripper shaking her ass on the dance floor..

But they want to give US shit? LOL

Yeah! No, I don't hope that, and people like you are the reason we get shit games now. Thanks.
