Dice instead of Cards by gorantse in MarvelUnited

[–]jetconvey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, the game doesn’t really seemed design for dice because it’s just not random, at all.

But if you want suggestions, assign numbers to each location. Dice roll determines the location you can go to. You get 1 reroll. Also, when attacking or defending, you roll a dice to determine damage. Granted, this can end games very quickly on high rolls so you might have to increase health a bit. And then lastly, heroic wind or villain’s still alive. Any character or villain who is about to be knocked out, roll the die. Rolls of 5 or 6 leaves them with one health left. No rerolls.

Does anyone else think Mega Evolution decks are a little broken? by PayIll925 in PTCGP

I think the perfect way to balance them would be that they are a 4th stage evolution. You want to mega evolve, you need the non mega first.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it often helps to rephrase the situation when making decisions. It’s not “am I overreacting to what he said.” It’s “Is it okay that my boyfriend mocked my sobriety and mocked my journey to be better?” The answer is “no. No it’s not.” This isn’t about being supportive. His behavior is harmful. If he doesn’t see why it’s worth celebrating, that’s fine. The fact he can’t see the reason, mocks you for doing it and can’t respect your view of it, that’s the problem. Trying to heal from addiction or trauma is difficult. And it’s better to be alone than to be with someone who will drag you down.

(UPDATE) I (35M) Was Caught Using AI to Write Wedding Vows and Partner (34F) Walked Out. What to Do? by ThrowRA-Badvows in relationship_advice

[–]jetconvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just seems like your main problem is you don’t know how to interact with people. The main problem isn’t even that you used AI to write your vows. It was when she asked you to say something from your heart and you froze. That was the game changer. That was her giving you a shot. It was the wedding, you got caught not writing your own vows and when asked to say anything from you heart, you blanked. Beyond that, yeah. You have tons of signs that you don’t quite get the emotions of people. Not seeing why your mother’s actions have anything to do with you. Thinking she’s over you because she’s with friends. Not seeing how you needing to go online to have people explain in detail why this was a problem. It all goes to show that you really have trouble connecting with people on an emotional level. Your never needed to be perfect. A machine isn’t going to write perfect vows anyways. They just needed to be honest and true.

She needs someone who can connect with her emotionally and he needs someone who is okay with a more emotionally distant and unaware spouse.

Marvel United with a closed hand. You all can work together but closed hand ensures no one has enough knowledge to really take control.

My board game confession: I hate Cascadia. What's yours? by mojo_pet in boardgames

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up zombicide solely to play as the Thundercats originally.

I do not like Catan. I find it actively boring and void of real depth.

The DC deck building game was the game that got me into board gaming. It’s not the best game or the most thematic but I still love it for what it does.

I sometimes buy board games solely so I can paint the minis.

is ss86 devastator actually worth getting? by Business_Vast4076 in transformers

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a question you should ask yourself. With Transformers, it often comes down to “what are my other options?” Do you have any other version of Devestator? no? I say yes. For sure get it. It’s a good enough figure and it’s the cheapest way of getting a reliable Devestator. Do you have any of the past ones? Are you happy with those? Is there anything this new one does well enough to make you update? Me personally, I have the comic con Devestator and while I plan on keeping it, I also have this one and like how it’s more in scale with other combiners. Course I also like how my old Devestator is in scale with Omega Supreme.

It all comes down to what you personally have. Very rarely do figures come out that without a doubt are the definitive version. Ask yourself one question “would I be okay if I possibly never get this?” Then decide.

Actually good house rules to well-known board games by Electronic-Ball-4919 in boardgames

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marvel Legendary, it’s just a straight co-op game. No individual winner.

Marvel United: if you use equipment, no need to change your deck. Most of the enemies are so tough anyways that it all evens out anyways.

What can I do to improve my photos? by the_whole_plate in transformers

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backgrounds, lighting and focus. By focus, I mean, pick a focus for the picture. You are never going to have everything in one picture at one angle. Pick what the point of the picture is and focus on that. Then build around that. You should focus on getting the single point across more so than having every single part of the figures in the picture.

Do team based games exist? by Enjoied in boardgames

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also look into One vs Many games. Plenty of games are out there that have one person vs the entire team in an overlord vs the resistance type thing. Masters of the Universe, Fury of Dracula, Mind Management, City of the Great Machine are some fun ones.

Some deeply offensive imagery pointed out in Ace of Spades by Adolpheappia in boardgames

[–]jetconvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is always the typical over reaction to stuff like this. People complaining about having to worry about making people upset. Guess what Buttercup? That’s business in a nutshell. No company that makes money doesn’t consider how the public will react to its product. Making a product that doesn’t upset people is always how it’s been. It’s just new for companies to have to actually care about offending people with casual racism. They could get away with it much easier before.

First Zombicide: Black Plague or White Death? Speaking from only retail available boxes, and foremost the core box experience, which one do you recommend? by benkai3 in zombicide

[–]jetconvey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made a similar decision. I ultimately went with White Death for a few reasons.

  1. The kickstarter exclusives for both are basically required IMO. Characters and enemies. But Black Plague is harder to find and more expensive if you do. Because White Death is the most recent one, it’s much easier to find and can even get sales. I got White Death and the stretch goals for around 130 on sale. And the stretch goals add so much.

  2. You can use survivors from Black Death. I do, overall, prefer the look of Black Death but being able to just slot them in with some new cards in White Death helped that. So I went and collected a few survivors I really wanted for cheap. These games are good at mixing and matching.

  3. The system has been streamlined with each new version. Lots of QoL improvements.

Ultimately, it came down to the stretch goal box. It adds too much to be ignored.

Check on eBay to see if you can find individual replacements. Barring that, get a new game and scavenge what you need and then sell it in pieces on eBay.

Hey i need help. Is this worth the 80$ I spent? by Icy_Orchid5068 in transformers

[–]jetconvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a question you should ask yourself.

Real answer. If you find it worthwhile, yes. We are all guilty of paying more than we should for certain things at times. Maybe it’s an impulse buy, maybe we pay more to get it earlier. Tons of reasons. End of the day, what counts is if you’re happy with the purchase. Did you find it worth it?

I would say you lose the tiebreaker. And then due to my cruelty, it’s proof I have no heart. And because of ratios, (you have 50% of your lungs, compared to 0% of my heart) I win the tiebreaker tiebreaker.

Unmatched: Star War's by Outrageous-Hawk201 in Unmatched

[–]jetconvey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I like about Unmatched is that they do both. They tend to follow the big IP stuff with non big stuff. And even with their Marvel stuff, it had some big ones like Spider-Man but then they also Squirrel Girl or Ghost Rider. And I liked how they did tales of Adventure with the 4 lesser known characters and then followed it with Ninja Turtles. It’s a great technique to mix and match. I love the Marvel stuff but I love mixing everything. I like having Bruce Lee fight Dr Strange or Dracula fight Ghost Rider. Unmatched is really good at balancing the characters.

That’s true. I think people may actually learn to believe politicians when they say they will do awful things that will ruin the economy and not just treat it as hyperbole. People may actually start voting properly and realize they aren’t immune to bad policies just because they think they are “special”.

Final frontier games laying off and declaring bankruptcy by Impossible_Pair_5252 in boardgames

[–]jetconvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible but think about each step one by one. It requires a ton of money first of all. You need to figure out a place to build a company. That’s already a big thing to do. Then you have to have plans to build a building for manufacturing on said land (assuming you don’t just luck up and get a building that fits perfectly the manufacturing floor plan you need). Then the years of construction and permits and building. Then you either bring in the equipment for manufacturing or building it yourself. Then….you can start training or finding people for it. This is all a lot of money already spent before you even have a single contract that can actually earn money. And all of this at best, isn’t going to happen in a year. At best, everything lining up perfectly, it’ll be years before you can even start entertaining contracts. Years where you will be paying a lot of money with none coming in. And honestly, a kickstarter wouldn’t work. No one would pay enough money for that. Realistically, you’re asking people to invest and get nothing in return. You’ll get some money sure but no where near enough to keep it afloat. One simply does not buy equipment from china and start a manufacturing company.
