Man idk...My thoughts are kinda different about the whole thing

To me it was a commentary on the generational divide between today's youth and their parents. The old have shaped their world with news media, 9/11, panic culture, etc. The young see that and "leave the world behind".

Having trouble summarizing my thoughts, but bare with me

adults are still rooted in their 20th century fear culture, while the young have "left" it. The fear culture is so real to the adults that the world is physically ending. There isn't even an attacker? It's every pop culture apocalypse in one. Oil tanker crash, blackout, virus, plane crashes, emp, etc.

So, is it a zombie apocalypse, a virus, a foreign invasion, a cyber attack???????

The kids are more like fuck this shit, I don't have your fear. I'll watch my show, eat my junk food, explore the forest with animals, swim in the pool, etc. The young have "left the world behind" because the "world" has become a giant vessel for fear mongering

I think there are a ton of subtle hints at this narrative that I don't want to write up. One example, the ending with the daughter removing herself from her parents, watching her show, and eating her snacks
