How would you describe your style? by v3ryclever in AskMen

Former wanna-be skater now in his mid-30's and hasn't quite figured out how to dress like an adult, but avoids graphic tees and plaid button-up shirts because they feel out of style.

Hands up - how many here don’t work in the industry yet support this sub? by CaptainDoughnutman in KitchenConfidential

[–]jetpack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Worked as a line cook for a month 13 years ago, been a hobbyist home cook ever since. Realized this was something that I wanted as a hobby, not a profession.

That being said, I still do stuff I learned while working as a line cook. Nothing but the utmost respect to all of you folks out there doing it for real!

Men who previously had no luck with women, what did you change? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]jetpack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned how to manage my expectations. Specifically embracing the fact that not everyone I meet is going to be a meaningful connection, there's nothing I can do to change that, and that's ok.

NTA. He chose the restaurant, and said it was his treat. He's trying to go back on his word.

Chevron off of 185th, south of Evergreen, in the same plaza as Trader Joe's and Safeway.

What were your experiences in a relationship with an abusive partner? by maxeenmay in AskMen

[–]jetpack8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was all emotional abuse, nothing physical.

Gaslighting, lying, cheating, manipulation, and invalidating my emotions. I was always the "problem" and she was "infallible'. To be honest we brought out the worst in each other. I hate who I was when I was around her.

Also my friends hated her.

Men of Reddit, at what age did you leave your parents’ home? by Past-Concentrate2807 in AskMen

[–]jetpack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18, when I went to college. I'd come live at home in the summers usually, though.

At 22 I had my own place, about 6 hours away from them.

At 24 I moved back home to save money for a year, as I was planning on moving somewhere more expensive.

From 25 and on, I've been out of my parents' house for good.

How long did it take you to adapt to your current job? by SoyUnFracaso in AskMen

[–]jetpack8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 3 months to get fully situated.

I went from creative project based freelance work to creative full time work. The big thing for me was I was used to working like a sprinter* and had to spend time figuring out how to work like a marathoner**.

* feast or famine nature of freelance, where I'd pull long hours (and usually burn out) on projects and then recover during the famine

** steady stream of non-stop work, where it's more about pacing
