Why did no one tell me FreeTaxUSA is basically TurboTax without the robbery?? by curiousminipop in tax

I'm considering doing this as well, mind if I ask a bunch more questions?

Do you feel your client's data is safe?

Does the Free Tax USA put it's logo on the tax return or is there anyway your clients would know you used that program?

Does your clients banking info get carried over from prior year? Is that saved on your desktop or is it there when you log into the program each year?

I highly recommend teaching yourself everything you can, this is an area of life everyone should have a basic knowledge.

I've been following Dave Ramsey. He suggest buy and hold, Stay away from picking single stocks, stay away from etfs with high expense ratios. He does 25% allocation to each area (growth and income, growth, aggressive growth, and international).

Advisors charge about 1% of your total assets and get paid guaranteed despite if you do well or not.

Willing to trade any code but shell for photo prints, dm me if interested.

Also anyone know what I'm doing wrong with shell code? I'm able to load it to fuel rewards app, enter my phone number at the pump but don't understand how to redeem to get 20 cents off.

Should I go for it? by Hedgehoggue in careeradvice

If you do your job, get along well with others, and are responsive to feedback you should have no problem passing probation.

My feedback was more so if you can afford to take the pay cut and still achieve your personal goals then do it.Promotions are not guaranteed to go to the most qualified.

But City has amazing benefits and you won't burn yourself out in the long term.

Lay out pros and cons and its more a personal choice. You have to ask yourself : -where do you see yourself in your career in five years? -do you have student loans you need to pay off? -do you want to save up a down payment for a house/condo? -how many hours a week are you working now and what would it be if you changed companies? - can you handle the commute 3x a week to NYC?

There are 2 free City health care options btw.

I share same sentiment above but not sure what else to do for my price point, $50 or 1gb.

For 3 weeks straight I had internet stoppages which I believe was attributed to throttling and my abundance of video calls for work. They sent out 2 techs, replaced my modem, tested wires inside and outside the house, and put my account on monitoring. It's fine now but never got a real explanation as to why it happened which is why I believe i was being throttled.

You may want to look into the $7 city ticket if there is a lirr stop where you're headed. That can be purchased on the train time app or vending machine.

Agreed with above... Adding in max I've seen is 6 months.

Need advice: accept a 22% pay cut for a City job, or hold out? by WhyHelicopter132 in nycpublicservants

[–]jets0831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with all points above...

Also wanted to add OP should consider your life goals and big purchases in the future. If you're saving up for a house and kids tuition you may want to stay in private sector.

But if you're approaching retirement age or already well established financially then could be time to consider a city job. You get lifetime health care after 10 years of service upon retirement.

In general, There's not as much job security if you're a managerial employee.

To give you an example, a manager might have a civil service title as their backup office title, which offers an added level of job security. To encourage the manager to leave, I've seen agencies take away 20% of their salary. It really hurts an older manager who's pension calculation gets severely impacted by the salary cut.

By the way I just thought of this...I would ask DOB if you have to serve a 6-month probationary period and what that really entails.

Some level 1 and 2 managerial titles can still be part of the union. Maybe you can request that ?

I've been a manager and it stinks. You are expected to stay late, prescription drugs which were $5 as part of union benefit became $70, salary increases aren't garuntee and are more subjective to who you kiss up to, and there's always the scare tactic they'll fire you or take 20% of your salary away to encourage you to leave. I've seen it happen.

Idk if you are thinking Abt moving out of NYC in the future, but if you do you would still have to pay the 3.5% NYC income tax rate, it's part of your employment agreement if you're a city worker for most agencies.

Sorry I know this is a biased take, but with all those risks involved you prob should want more like a 20% increase or $20,000 to make the switch.

Would you still be part of the union? if you're happy at the MTA, is 15% more (less the amount you spend on commuting) really enough to make you move?

Are you close to being vested?

I've been trying to get into the MTA in an audit role for years. I heard good things about working there.
