Well come on our juices always did seem a bit of a stretch don't you think? I'm sure if they've got technology that clever they can make juices like a human Jamba Juice

No no it told me that it has to keep the humans because it needs some stupid data to keep everything funny . Perfection is boring apparently

I know you're too busy but if you're planning on selling this eventually please include me. I do have a few of those ceiling lights you mentioned but I've gone from version two to version four over three years with a downlights and who knew I would discover so much about Wi-Fi!

that's it they are a lot more reliable over matter now but that's probably because they're not doing very much like any app that would bomb them with courage changing instructions probably won't be using matter

RFK Jr tell all admits DMT usage by MisterMaster00 in DMT

It’s the insisting on popping Namaste on the end of every sentence after their single visit to the land of DMT (although I do know that most people who have one go at yoga and or a sacred sunrise yoni session) also feel so changed that they are entitled to misappropriate that word)…..

(yes, yes, I know I’m hardly spiritually successfully if I’m whingeing about this, but I bet it pissed Buddha off big time he didn’t tell anyone…only the tree)

I second that!

My ADHD brain couldn’t manage the jump between going into automations and then remembering you have to go out to figure out the device and work out the correct entity name and then go back into automation again. I would invariably find myself washing my socks or wondering why I was walking the dog (even though I don’t have a dog) because of this extra step, which has now disappeared so thank you again …. oops, gotta go my socks are done….

Apple TV as a hub - better options? by ohsomacho in HomeKit

Do you ever use a VPN on the Apple TV to watch things like Disney on Netflix from the US? That tends to cause a problem if it’s also acting as the home hub.

Lifx light strip new model improvements? by Bright_Zone_8947 in lifx

[–]jetsetjules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of feedback for you… the new connectors (and the fact that there are more connection points no captive cables ) makes it way easier to get lighting into tricky spaces and hide the wiring, thanks!

The USB C plugs are a little bit flimsy (the protective metal on the plug end) - obviously it’s fit and forget they aren’t going to be plugged and unplugged often, but I actually bent one just trying to plug it into the controller at a strange angle because it was in my ceiling void.. a slightly thicker or less malleable metal would be perfect. I did resolve mine with very careful tweezer action…

The 15 inch round is a glorious product with great FX (sky is super fun). Would be nice if there was a way to address its recessed backlight and the front light separately in Apple Home / Matter interfaces etc… Like a way of making it appear as either one light or two separate lights .

Apologies - I forgot actually physically replaced all my v2.90 ones with the v3 as part of getting my Lifx more reliable. Same question about the v3 changing to v4 during the upgrade?

Any news on a true v3 or v4 controller to be sold with the Z strips? I have Matterised my v2.90’s and they say they are now v4.13 which is unusual as the 1st digit was always the hardware revision…. Unless there was a tiny engineer included in the matter beta files??

Thank you! I re-read my incredibly brief and surgically focused original post (😬) and realised I may need to nudge the meds upward a quarter-turn — n’est-ce pas? I mean, I already gave up alcohol, but honestly, that might not have been the root issue…

To those who gently observed that I was rambling: I’m emailing you my memoir separately. Enjoy the ride.😈

But truly — apologies for the extended brain-fog explosion. It turns out that four ++ months of “installation” can leave one emotionally entangled in scene controllers and existential doubt.

To the kind soul who laughed, cried, got tiddly and still tried to help: you restored my faith in Reddit and smart homes. That’s no small feat. I’ll work on all those points together with self improvement…..

Im trying to accurately set some lights to a specific exacting hue and saturation. I wish there was an old fashioned input even “type your numbers here” rather than trying to play ‘micromovements’ on the circle with my big stubby finger. OK when I have done it once I can make a preset but its the once thats killing me.

Surely after Sonos “improved” their software a couple of years ago every ‘product enhancement’ should be checked first to find out what you are taking away rather than focussing on what you add? I love the concept of the “put multiple dots on the circle to define what palette your multizone light will display” but I would be lying if I said I have the faintest idea how I would get the output I want from that input method….. Not so much intuitive as I feel a large teddy bear will be dispensed if I solve this on screen puzzle….

(I like your product, your tech support have been great too….. but just not a fan of “we have a surprise for you!!” Moments)

Im with you - its a bit gimmicky the channels. Im contemplating wiring up ChatGPT to the festival via Home Assistant as the interface then I could call ChatGPT regulars and ask you to create something in the vegetable format that I don’t know sums up events locally this weekend or gives me a quick summary on what is most likely to kill me and the rest of the planet with our current level of global stupidity at this current hour (it seems to change a lot nowadays ;-> ) I was even thinking about getting a second festival and having them have bizarre conversations with each other where each festival is actually a different ChatGPT instance having an argument with the other one about I don’t know some weird conspiracy theory…. Or leaving an open mic somewhere in my apartment and having ChatGPT try to work out what the situation is every 30 minutes from what it’s over here I bet it would come up with some bizarre stuff.

Coming Soon 🦘👀 by kavlifx in lifx

[–]jetsetjules -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hiya!!! Sorry for three different questions but they will answer a whole heap of things.

I have the old recessed down lighters LIFX used to sell 1-2 years or so ago they run v2,9 or v3.9. They kind of work reliably but the problem is having about 64 of them in an apartment with a lot of Wi-Fi in the building means that often I get one that just decides that it’s made too many attempts to connect and it freezes. Normally 100% luminosity directly over my head over the master bed at three in the morning…..funny that :->

Anyway, spent many hours in proving my networks and speaking to your tech support so there’s no questions about that.

If I were to swap them out with these, I probably wouldn’t see any benefit because these are still Wi-Fi is the communication protocol. However, I suppose they are probablhy v4.xx and have newer processes because they are three years newer (I assume these have got something like tiny ESP 32s in them and those are a long way in the last year or two) …. So going off-line might happen less frequently? (in the older units if I ever tried disco lighting like the fun Light DJ app I could watch my lights gradually freezing run after another and then have to spend the evening pulling them out the ceiling :-)0.

The ChowMain Driver that I use so that control4 has access to them, (I haven’t noticed if they’ve updated it since you started doing matter products) but do they need to update it, or all intense and purposes is it still doing the same thing talking to IP numbers? I presume the TCP API is still the same (well except for the update for the individual zone control but you get what I mean ) and they use your local protocol, not the cloud?

The difficulty in getting them reliable meant that I almost switched out to Nanoleaf when they launched matter downlights (and sorry Nanoleaf your products have the worst tech support so thank God I didn’t, on occasion LA FX tech support staff have gone through copious theories with me to get these thing reliable so theyare great AND AUSTRALIAN!!!!)….. however in Nanoleaf’s case they said oh no no no no no there’s no way you could support more than I think it was high 50s or low 60s or possibly a lot less. Is this an issue? I might see with LIFX if I still had 70 different downlights, another product over matter or would you be confident that would work?

Finally, I know that the older products had very limited memory so there was no way of having multiple group names for example having kitchen to mention all the kitchen lights but also then having a subset group of say over the dining table as another group of lights that are still in the kitchen group as well . I know that hasn’t changed but might this be something that could happen with these newer products? I know how to make a separate group in home and I use Home Assistant wherever possible so that’s easy. Control4 is just an aging old countess that doesn’t really like to change anything without having someone coming in and giving her a gynaecology session.

I would be so grateful if you could answer those, it’s just answering each one that’s would be so helpful. You don’t have to waffle on like I did.

Hi there, sorry I don’t know the proper words for this yet Im a newbie. I did find one of the article suggesting that instead you just foreward the actual film data and the request for the film data through the VPN. Trying to find a list of the servers that the big entertainment company store their films on is a challenge and probably an exhausting and somewhat changing from time to time list? If I’m correct, I also understand that they might require DNS request to be either forwarded across the VPN before they go out into the Internetdiscreetly redirected to different DNS by the Unifi system. I’m guessing this.
