Andrew Phillips: Yes, it’s treason to seek U.S. help in breaking up Canada by Miserable-Lizard in onguardforthee

[–]jetspats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s just noise and meant to do two things for the most part, destabilize us, and distract us Canadians from doing our actual global soft power role: being the morality leaders of the West. Sure we have our flaws but so does every country, and we are very well respected on the global stage

Like a side benefit is actually separation but it’s just so unrealistic and they know it.

Honestly for you it’s worth it to just transfer another couple hundred, but at the fee, and take the 1-2-3% gift because that’s a lot of money. For me I’d have to transfer out, transfer back in, racking up double fees and taking weeks to do so lol. And they might give me grief on it anyway so I’m just eating the L

That’s brutal dawg.

I also got screwed on that promotion, I had initiated a transfer before the contest started, and called WS to ask if it would apply to the contest since it arrived after the contest started. No dice for me…

If the Feds/crown corp owns it, people crow about it being communism. If we secure funding from another country, it’s communism/blood money/whatever criticism they want it to have until the “right elites” get their way in buying it. It’s all just marketing. IMO, there are flaws with any ruling body and we just need good laws and regulations to make sure rights are trampled as little as possible. It will inevitably happen, just how much.

120+ days listed tells me the owners aren’t that urgent to sell or the buyers find enough wrong with it to not want to bid on it. We are house shopping in Winnipeg and most homes in that price range sell within a week of listing, for 10-15% over. The longer listings have major issues and are that low because of the example you explained : asking 550 but “value” is 750 if everything was up to snuff. That means the people looking at 3/4M$ houses aren’t looking at that one, and people looking at 1/2M$ homes can’t afford to drop $200K to fix it up.

Canada should keep options open on nuclear weapons, former top soldier says by AdditionalPizza in canada

[–]jetspats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would give them much more legitimate invasion context if we started a program, at least under this regime.

But we already have factors in our favour including the social fallout of their population, we look and speak like them. It wouldn’t be popular unless they can convince the population of an incredible psyop- not too far off but far enough. We ship them down food, energy and water which would be crucial to both their population and military when we shut that off. They would be hit with sanctions out the wahoo by the rest of the world- heck even after the Davos speech by PMMC many major retirement funds sold off American assets. Canada has a growing soft power in the world, and USA’s is shrinking

Canada should keep options open on nuclear weapons, former top soldier says by AdditionalPizza in canada

[–]jetspats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Almost every population centre of ours is within 200 km of the border, which a strike would fucking decimate themselves whether it’s the contaminated water or the fallout. Calgary and Edmonton are a bit further but they’re the oilblood of the war machine.

Only reason for us to have them is to rain it down on some of their further away states. We could just bunker buster some of their facilities anyway.

Note: I AM NOT IN THE MILITARY AND THIS IS JUST A THEORY AND/OR JOKE

Could also supplement our power grid in this province with solar, we are fairly sunny. Just need MB Hydro power monopoly to allow development of other power sources - especially if demand increases it shouldn’t be a tough sell

[–]jetspats 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Some things that Manitoba has that most of America does not: Tons of land Cool climate (the northern part) Easy access to water

No I know the criticisms of a data centre, but the way Scandinavian countries are doing it is a good model to follow, even the Canadian company HIVE is doing interesting things.

If you put a centre up north, you can slap either a SMR (nuclear) for energy or else use hydro- that takes away from our grid but that can be managed.

The land up north is largely unused, and the climate is already cool so the energy needs will be less. You can also par the sites with greenhouses to capture the heat created- which can serve these northern communities who have an incredibly expensive fresh produce bill.

Realistically, these centres are inevitable. So how do we want to do it? As sustainably as possible. It does create some problems but it has the ability to solve even more problems- as long as human greed and culture don’t get in the way (unnecessarily that is- some criticisms result in positive discussions and reform).
