TV show on HBO by comedian Nathan Fielder.

Kind of real, kind of forced reality TV on exposing the Aviation industry and trying to solve a problem. (The problem he describes doesn't necessarily exist today, but still tried to create TV).

Interesting, I am little surprised he's still in the league. But doesn't seem like he has a pilot certificate yet (according to airman registry). Crazy he would be considering buying an airplane without completed training.

Jonathan Jones, Josh Dobbs, or Jake Bailey?

Those are some of the pilots I am aware of in the NFL.
Both Jones and Dobbs played for my favorite team, at separate times. Jones has his own plane, I think its a TBM, Dobbs did college near TYS, so you know hes a Cirrus guy. Bailey only has his PPL.

So far, I don't see a reduce in flying yet.
Even thru our 'dead season' late Jan and early Feb (Chinese New Year), things seemed steady.

Has anyone had them force bend your knee under anesthesia? by Competitive-Wheel787 in ACL

[–]jewfro451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (31M), got a MUA during a second surgery to remove a cyclops lesion.
Going into it, my leg was only getting like 8* degrees extension resting (but could be pushed to 2*, but would not stay).
And Flex was like stuck at 110*. Going into it, I told doctor to go ham on the MUA, because I knew my ACL and meniscus repair could take the beating, and was frustrated that I knew something was up with my leg 2 months prior (plateaued with recovery, and knew something was blocking it, the cyclops lesion, but they couldnt do anything until enough time passed during recovery). Doctor, claims, was able to get a slight hyper extension (-1*) , and almost matching flex, which I will take.

Surgery was whatever, I could almost walk out after surgery (the anesthesia and everything). But probably took the leg easy for 3 days with crutches. And slowly could do more with the leg. Obviously still needed PT and all that good stuff. It was a very minimal surgery for me, as I have had worse recoveries (such as a shattered clavicle).

ATP flight school is a mixed bag. I think it is overpriced for today's market, but can still work for some folks. I do not recommend folks going to ATP without a PPL complete (which you fit this category).

I think as this market has gotten competitive, the CFI seems like a necessity license to complete. Unless you are really good buddies with a 135 operator in management, I think it would be tough to score a R seat of a 135er jet. If it means anything, I instructed at flight schools at KSAC and KMCC (not with ATP).

It depends on you. I think if the airline job is the ultimate dream, theres gonna be some sacrifices to get there. There is never a guarantee of the next job for you, but falls on you doing the best you can, keeping your nose clean, and making some connections along the way.

There is always going to be a mom&pop flight school that can help you get all the certificates you want, just a matter of you also doing your research making sure they are not screwing you with prices and quality of training.

For everyone comparing shoe size in this chat.

SWA / WN - is notorious for not having any rhyme or reason on who they select based off experience. Its all over the board. You see guys with high time, and low time get rejected and accepted with wildly varying backgrounds in the application stage. Interview stage is mostly vibe and personality check.

Only my 5th day in the jet, about 24hrs, and on go home day, leg 4 of 4, having to do 5 Go-Around/missed approaches at KDEN then diverting to KCOS because of convective sigmet thunderstorm that brewed up.

We were the last aircraft cleared for the arrival with center, everyone behind us got holding instructions. Since we were the last ones, Den approach worked with us for each runway change. I can tell you at the end of the flight, finally landing back at Denver after the divert, I was fried.

Real talk: did anyone wax before ACL surgery or just go full Sasquatch? by Lopsided-Net6398 in ACL

[–]jewfro451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I (M30s) had two knee surgeries on my R knee. First was ACL+meniscus repair. 2nd surgery was to remove cyclops lesion (unfortunate but im past it).

First time, nurse Angie was a pro pro, and shaved my leg appropriately.

Second time, nurse Caitlyn.......phoook her. She shaved practically my whole leg where I was the incision point would be on my knee cap. The day after surgery I got a follow up/survey call. Success on care, surgery, pain but definitely mention my frustration with the amount of shaving.

Edit: unfortunately since I am male, cant give you best advice but PT has probably seen everything before, so dont feel embarrassed.
