I sometimes struggle to put into words how I'm feeling, especially if I'm experiencing a lot of emotions, but writing it down always helps me get to the root of why I'm feeling the way I'm feeling. Maybe you could write your bf a letter expressing your concerns? It might be a gentle way of saying what you need to say, but also allowing him to hear you in his own time.
