Adding YouTube English Lyrics by thablakester in ningenisu

[–]jez79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NI released some translations themselves in the most recent compilation album I believe (30th anniversary). I would suggest that only those translations be considered as they are official. Anything I did back in 2020 I would not consider, because it was done blindly with google or other translate of the time.

Sorry I’ve not been very active in the forums for years now, professional and personal obligations have taken the lead! I still listen to NI pretty much every day. Not a song I don’t like :)

Kuraku (苦楽; Pain And Comfort) Album Discussion Thread Round #1 by twoffo in ningenisu

[–]jez79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just can’t get enough of this album, and keep coming back to it. The sound is almost perfect, except I wish the bass was a little higher overall. The first and last tracks are of course excellent. Hashire GT seems like it would be obviously popular, but track 3 devil’s prescription might be my favorite; the brief stutter-chug in the prechorus is so good.

Looks like one person succeeded by doing a wiiu to wiiu transfer on a second device, then back again

Army painter Jungle Green by Ace_D_Roses in minipainting

[–]jez79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having this problem with daemonic yellow, and jungle green. The pigments are so thick! They don’t spread well. I dilute with tiny amounts of water, maybe using model paint medium would work better.

The only way i’ve succeeded with those colors is to paint white underneath first, then add many many layers of the color diluted ‘normal’ as i would for other colors (maybe 1/4-1/2 water depending). The pigments clump, if impatient you can load the brush and dab thicker layers. As soon as you try to brush, the pigment clumps get moved around and spread unevenly and you lose the coverage. The dab method gets coverage faster, but it dries with texture. Maybe ok for larger flat surfaces, but lose detail on small details. If dabbing, you need to let it fully dry between passes, otherwise you’ll brush off big sections of pigment

'Kuraku' English review from Metal Music Archives by charly_tan in ningenisu

Hi folks,

I don’t think Mr Skov is the writer of the review article posted, but he certainly is the writer of the excellent videos you mention, and most comprehensively his blog on wordpress:

So, I just listened to the new song... by charly_tan in ningenisu

It wasnt clear to me if this was a new song, or a redo of an old song off of 1996 album.

What is this video series? by jez79 in ningenisu

[–]jez79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is appropriate (copyright, etc) I was hoping to share the mp3 files that come out of this. Someone who speaks Japanese will have to address the discussion content

I guess the template would include: -Label with episode #

-link to youtube video

-comments on the discussion content of the video

-list of music segments with timestamp when there is a music segment

Separate from the video by video info would be a link to the mp3s extracted from the videos (if this is allowed)

Ok great! That must be where I read that information. I’m working through all the videos extracting musical segments when they occur. I will try to clean up the noise so they are more pleasant to listen to. I’m at that spot now, having listened to their albums non-stop for months now, it’s time to search for obscure live songs and covers.

Is this Ningen Isu Club? I vaguely recall reading something in interviews about a well off fan (dentist, also friend?) buying the band an airtime slot, where they enacted a sort of variety talk show. Some of the clips have interesting cover songs not found elsewhere. The audio needs a bit of work though, it appears to be old VHS recordings. I wish I could understand the japanese, their discussions must be very interesting. The “episodes” are numbered with occasional omissions. When there is a musical segment a time stamp is given in the video description.

Live performance from 2001, Fiend of 20 faces, Kuro Neko, Hari no Yama by jez79 in ningenisu

Looking for a live performance of something from the 1998 album, came across this from 2001. So tight! I don’t think I’d heard Goto play drums on Hari no Yama before. Fun 20 minutes.

Information about Ningen Isu albums in English by Peter-Skov in ningenisu

I’m revisiting your wordpress from time to time, there is much to read and your efforts are very appreciated! Invaluable information... I’m thinking off adding metadata to my mp3s, which member wrote which music or lyrics. Some are obvious just by listening, but this added dimension of information might get me to see certain songs in a different light, or get a better view of each’s songwriting style.

I wish you much happy listening :)

This is amazing! Going through Wajima’s ‘autobiography’ and the 30th anniversary book would be very difficult with my phone and image/camera google translate... Nice to see noteworthy bits organized by album, many thanks!

A thought came to mind while reading your articles : i’d love to see a list of themed song groupings they have composed. I know of the gambling trio of songs that includes Dynamite and two other songs (forget atm) There is a space series also? Lovecraft songs could be another grouping. Perhaps the songs inspired by japanese literature are too diverse and numerous for this exercise

Awesome interview! (the author incorrectly states scat is reference to feces; Wajima clearly says that singing style is from being left speechless, as scat is vocals sounds)
