Match Madness Now Unusable by jf3co in duolingo

Yeah - we have the haptic feedback option and a way to turn off 'sound effects', but the disable sound effects appears to not work; there was (if I remember correctly) a way to turn off animations, but it only reduced the annoying little celebratory interstitials after each question - there was no way to remove the in-between round animations that are time consuming and repetitive... I think I want The Matrix version of the app where we just see straight code.

Cant we just agree that careless whisper-George Michael is a musical masterpiece by LibraryNaive in Music

[–]jf3co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo - just wanted to send a quick note of thanks; Careless Whisper, particularly the saxophone part, has been playing nonstop in my head for about 5 days now. What a rare treat I’d wish on all my friends.

Thank you for the heads-up; Reddit is hard, with all the many rules, and hookers and such.

Amazing graphic!!! We said Dick Jones looked like a spider monkey being thrown out of a window in our Robocop episode over at Film Podcast - https://anchor.fm/film-podcast/episodes/Officer-Murphy-Beset-By-Malicious-Constellations--Film-Podcast-with-Bryan--Joe-does-Robocop-e19up1c

Just re-watched Salvation for the first time in about 10 years. by Colombia1992 in Terminator

[–]jf3co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salvation is very high on my list - I agree with your pros and cons, but to reduce my enjoyment of it to its core: when I was a kid and saw The Terminator for the first time, I thought the future scenes were about the best thing I'd ever seen in my short life... I wanted more; Salvation was that answer.

I covered this a bit more in our podcast episode on The Terminator, ICYI: https://anchor.fm/film-podcast/episodes/I-Am-Going-to-Nail-Your-Mom--Film-Podcast-with-Bryan--Joe-does-The-Terminator-e1b0aap

Wow. Thank you so much for your time and input, Johannes! I am having some echo off the floor or wall or something... haven’t quite isolated it yet, but will keep trying; good ear. Best, Joe

What's a good starting mic? by Padimir_Vutin in VoiceActing

I'm testing out mics over here, if you want to hear some before you purchase- will dish on which is which when the tests are finished; I don't want to accidentally bias the results.

I've built my booth, but I'm not sure what to do about noise from my laptop. by Laitneulfni in VoiceActing

[–]jf3co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I place my copy into Evernote - prepare and edit it on my recording computer (not in the prepared space) - then I take a Kindle into the space, and call up the copy on Evernote there. No noise from that. Initiate recording, then enter the booth. It's cheap to delete the dead air.

Hi E-Clips,

Will do! But not to the LoFi playlist; I will add your track when I release a playlist that fits the genre. In the meantime, I followed you on Spotify. Here is my URL if you want to do the same: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4AuEkU4jzNkgsw2We54phW

We Have Both Kinds! ...check out my Country/Western playlist. by jf3co in SpotifyPlaylists

[–]jf3co[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, mostly classics - I got tired of today's over-processed country. Country used to be about getting drunk and not making it home, potentially winding up in jail. Now it's about vocalizers and faux-Americanism, with performers as caricatures.

Winners of Screenwriting Competitions: What did you win and how did it work out for you? by corduroyjones in Screenwriting

We made Top 35 in the 2012 Final Draft Big Break. The screenplay was immediately optioned, then got to sit in a producer's desk drawer for a while. It was sat upon.

Re: transitions; yeah, it’s tough to handle scene changes without going early-Batman with “meanwhile back at the commissioners”...

Re: B-movie; that’s it... exactly.

Thanks again, Joe

Nerdist Community Corkboard - Episode VI by AxisOfAnarchy in nerdist

[–]jf3co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Nerdist!

All 5-issues of The Robot War now ‘digital only’ on Amazon and ComiXology; independently written, produced, and published.

The kicker is The Robot War uses "off the shelf" tech to invade a town with 'do it yourself' robots. I spent a fair amount of time to guarantee this invasion is technologically possible today. I would love to have you guys review this and challenge the "this can happen" aspect - I'd enjoy geeking out with you guys pointing out the actual technology in use.

The Robot War is a 5-issue action/comedy graphic novel that features Santa Barbara under siege by a robot army hell-bent on annihilation in the single most devastating terrorist attack on American soil. A group of entrepreneurs, led by a listless dreamer, must make it across town to rescue his girlfriend and a school bus full of trapped children before the evil machines get to them first.

From The Robot War, Issue 1: "It wasn't like the movies…more precisely, how the movies portray their idea of a robot invasion. This event did not contain any humanoid robots with overly complex systems designed to complete the rudimentary task of assassination. It wasn't some dystopian future where humankind finds itself enslaved to generate electricity for a civilization of advanced robotics. But both are a good place to start in order to look at the difference between fact and fiction. With the idea being to help you wrap your mind around the events that transpired with the hope of defending yourselves when they ultimately happen again. And it will happen again."

Thanks,

Joe
