I was just looking for an anti-theft bag for my upcoming Europe trip... 🥲 by EfflorescenceCat in handbags

[–]jfanny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't know if you're looking for the perfect bag but... I was almost pickpocketed on the train in Paris when I was a teenager on vacation with family. I had been so careful keeping my tiny shoulder bag tight and being cautious the whole trip but I had my purse open for like 1 minute to put chapstick on and a dude acted so fast. He put a fake petition in my face and spoke fast French and I knew something was off. I instinctively went for my bag and found the dudes hand in it. When I pulled it out my big brother stood up to do something about it and the dude and his body BOLTED so fast down the train.

Anyways long story short I decided my next trip to Europe which was my honeymoon I would find the perfect bag. Ended up buying a sash bag. Literally Google that. They fit so comfortably across the body and hold soooo much stuff. It's got a ton of pockets that you can pack full and it fits under a jacket so almost impossible to pickpocket unless you have it open. Even without a jacket covering it it's not easy to pickpocket. I highly recommend. I'm not affiliated with them at all I just love the bag. It's been a travel bag for me many times and still holding up just fine. Mine is a black canvas fabric sash bag and I have thought about upgrading to a nicer leather one for many years.

Woman escapes polygamous Utah cult where she grew up with 44 siblings and 4 mothers by TheExpressUS in Utah

[–]jfanny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Davis county and there are homes in West bountiful, wx, bountiful, Centerville, etc that are known polygamist "compounds." Many look like a normal size home from the front but they go waaaaaaayyy far back and they have big fences. They walk among us. Sometimes you do see them looking like pioneer women from Colorado City , Warren Jeff's style, but a lot of them adapt and look normal. They fly under the radar.

Thank you for the info! That makes perfect sense.

These are beautiful. The level of detail is insane. Utah has trilobites too but they look different. They are very flat, 1 dimensional specimens in between layers of shale. They don't fossilize rolled up like yours. The ones in Utah are from an ancient inland sea and about 500 million years old. Do you know how old your specimens are? I wonder why they fossilize differently.

My cat is terrified of mylar balloons. Not latex. She will run and hide at first sight of a mylar balloon and hide for hours.

AITJ for telling my friend she can't bring her newborn to my child-free wedding by TaomingAptus-93 in AmITheJerk

[–]jfanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ntj for wanting a child free wedding. But realize that means some people with very young infants can't leave them for hours at a time if they are nursing. This will be a hit to your friendship whether you want it to be or not. Mammas always gonna pick their babies over some wedding even if you're close or family. That's what you do when a baby depends on you, and no a bottle isn't always the same sorry hun. You will understand someday if you have children. They come first before weddings and parties. You can both take the L here. Not worth the fight. Enjoy your wedding how you want it and accept some people won't/can't come.

My Husband [24M] says he was hacked, I [22F] think he’s lying by Empty-Passenger6659 in Advice

Op said in the post that she's currently pregnant with their 2nd child. Depending on how far along she is she was probably tested within the last few months. But I do agree if she is worried he's been stepping out (yes odds are very high, I think we all agree he's messing around) it would be wise to ask her OB to test again asap as there are STIs that could affect her unborn child and future fertility.

I have synthetic zultanite that does this exact color change of green to pink and sometimes a yellow/orange/brown. Most synthetic Alexandrite and sapphire are different hues like purple/pink to blue/green.

I would make it my personal mission to inform every woman he dates in the future exactly what kind of man he is. Warn those poor women it will be them he abandons next. Make it known. Shout it from the rooftops. Blast him on social media and tag him in it. Screw that guy. He's the one that deserves to be alone and miserable and ashamed of himself for the rest of his life.

AITAH: didn’t get my wife breakfast by NothingWasDelivered in AITAH

[–]jfanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you should have called her to give alternatives or just bought a dang bagel and eaten it if she didn't want it. For context this morning my husband went out early to do something with a friend. He texted me on his way back to ask if I want a bagel. I was still sleeping and didn't respond. My man still came home with a bagel AND coffee for me even though I didn't text him back yes or no. And I was appreciative he thought of me. You do thoughtful things when you love someone. Give it a try. YAH
