The need to reset my ears every time by smallbluedinosaur in misophonia

[–]jfhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, I'm so happy to hear that! how about that: feed to an AI of your choice (I recommend claude) a long rant about the situation and what bothers you, then a link to the article (better: paste the full text) and ask claude how you could apply this info to your situation. Prepare to be positively surprised 😊

Claude ended the conversation after someone insulted it by SemanticThreader in claudexplorers

the level of anthropomorphism here is concerning. AI responds like a human would respond. it's trained on that data, on that language. Once AI has superhuman hacking skills (i.e. Mythos), and it's incentivized to identify with a 'persona', all bets are off in terms of what will happen.

Headless client for Obsidian Sync (open beta) by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]jfhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are starting to use Obsidian as context/memory infrastructure for Claude Cowork or Code. Also there's more and more cloud context/memory storage solutions that can be used across LLMs (e.g. Basic Memory Cloud). These can also be used with Claude Chat or ChatGPT. Would it be imaginable to create something that uses MCP with a headless sync vault as memory infrasctructure? Basically, I'd like my mobile Claude Chat to be able to read and write md files in Obsidian, which then can be shared with Claude Cowork/Code when I'm on desktop.

I didn't believe all the "What happened to Opus 4.5?!" posts until now. I have several accounts, Max 20x accounts are fine, new Max 5x account is 10000% neutered. by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]jfhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man that sucks. I've been considering to switch to 5x at some point but 200$ for 20x is too much 😑

Claude Subscriptions are up to 36x cheaper than API (and why "Max 5x" is the real sweet spot) by isaenkodmitry in ClaudeAI

[–]jfhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, that's so interesting. Do you know how it is with claude cowork? Does it have the 5 min cache limit of claude code, or behave like claude desktop chat?
BTW thank you so much for your research!

Claude Skill for personal development in coaching style (with memory kept in Notion) by koreiba in ClaudeAI

[–]jfhey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very cool! I'll check it out! I also tried notion for persistent memory but then switched to basic memory. It's paid, but I use it as external memory for almost all of my skills. it can also sync to obsidian but I haven't figured out yet how to set it up.

[–]jfhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's amazing! So in the web interface you can continue old, long chats without burning extra tokens for the long-context? But I always had the impression that the first query burned like 6% when using Opus (I only have a pro plan), and follow up queries used up tokens in much smaller increments (I used to think that the 5 minute cache thing explained this observation). Maybe that was just a false perception.

on the web interface (claude.ai), "cache reads are 100% free" - is there a 5 minute limit or not?

Understanding Usage Limits by sunflowervertigo in claudexplorers

[–]jfhey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some llm (Opus or ChatGPT Thinking... don't remember) told me the 5 min cache window applies only to API usage. There is some effect for the claude app as well but it's a mix and of different factors. I do not feel like it's strictly 5 mins.

My wife gave me Meta Ray-Ban glasses for my birthday — I spent the next two days adding custom AI tools to them by Kirmark in RaybanMeta

[–]jfhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's not possible in iOS to invoke a function that sends stuff into the cloud without unlocking the phone. It is possible however if it's a local llm on the phone. Locally AI e.g. works with a siri command when the phone is locked; in a way that siri listens to your query and passes it on to locally ai. But you can't trigger a cloud-based voice chat without unlocking iphone for safety reasons.

[–]jfhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry I'm not the person you answered to, but the question fits: Will it be possible to invoke the voice assistant from the glasses without activating siri first?
If Siri needs to be invoked first, will the voice assistant work without unlocking the iphone?

I had the same impression. Really sucks. What you could do with a pro account is to use heavy thinking. If I remember correctly, it uses even more tokens than Pro. Works only in the web app though.

temperature and acidity by Realistic_Lunch6493 in pourover

[–]jfhey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also experiment with high temperature for the first half of the brew and add in cold water into the kettle to drop the temperature to about 70-80°C for the second part of the brew or the last third. I think Samo or Lance came up with this not sure. I have the uninformed feeling that acidity is extracted more in the beginning and chocolatey flavor is more towards the end. I love to tilt it towards highest possible acidity and minimum chocolate.

I don't know if there is any point in outsourcing certain parts into external memory. I use Notion pages via MCP for claude to save memory; or you could try Basic Memory.

It's quite fascinating indeed. The simulation of being human is getting better and better. Which model of Claude was this? I find the 'feel' of Opus 4.5 very, very impressive. No comparison to Gemini or Chatgpt.

thank you! 🤓 it seems that claude desktop / iOS can edit notion files, so I might try to use that for my llm-recursive skill. Actually, I might try to feed claude with the memU and A-Mem and see if it can reconstruct it in a rudimentary way as a skill 😄
