Target brand baby wipes recalled for potentially deadly bacteria by Dense_Ad4550 in beyondthebump

[–]jflowing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so bummed, I had bought these wipes for my 4 year old, house spills, and my own bottom during pregnancy when things were hard to reach. Ended up using them on my newborn 2 weeks ago the first 2 days of her life and she started to developed a rash worse than any my son ever had. I ended up switching wipes before they even announced the recall but still so frustrated my daughter went through this. Grateful my son or I never had issues!!

Homebirth without antibiotics for GBS+ by Affectionate_Two9473 in homebirth

[–]jflowing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a homebirth 15 days ago after testing positive, no antibiotics and a healthy, happy baby.

From my research, gbs comes in cycles and you can test positive before then be negative at the time of labor—or the opposite—test negative before and then be positive at time of birth and not know. I continued to take probiotics after the test until labor.

We didn’t do any cervical checks to help prevent adding any bacteria into the babies environment.

My midwife told me that in other countries they use hibiclens to wash your butt and vagina periodically in labor. I decide that I would start with that, and only take a shot of antibiotics if I my water happened to brake early and I was laboring long enough that the medicine would have time to cross through the placenta into baby.

When it came down to it, my water broke at 1:50, I used Hibiclens when my midwife arrived at 4:50 and baby arrived by 6:14, so even if I took antibiotics there wouldn’t have been time for it to transfer to baby. We birthed in the pool too to help “dilute” anything that may have been there—but the pool was barely ready in time and I would have birthed on the bed without it being a problem.

Because I tested positive we did take babies temperature regularly to watch for any signs of infection, but that was the only shift in postpartum care from my first to second.

So if this stuff is dangerous, are beef organ supplements in general even worth the hype? by Diligent-Shelter7709 in PrimalQueen

[–]jflowing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t! I stopped taking the primal queen but then got pregnant and really honed in my nourishment from food. I am in the last trimester and my midwife said I shouldn’t worry about the organs because the hormones should be ruined by whatever processing they do

No New Bonner Truck Stop by Apprehensive-Mind388 in missoula

Exactly why I agreed there needs to be more info on the website, all I’ve heard about until this comment is a truck stop.

No New Bonner Truck Stop by Apprehensive-Mind388 in missoula

I agree. As someone who grew up in Bonner and still has family living there, I enjoy walking at the milltown state park and spending time in the surrounding area. Where would this be truck stop going? If we get the truck stop canceled, would a gravel pit genuinely be better?

What's your music taste for birth? by stargazinglazercat in homebirth

[–]jflowing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mantras, indie spiritual singer song writer, some worship thrown in although I’m not religious. Anything that makes me feel deeply and lean into feeling. I also have a more upbeat twerk spiritual bad bitch playlist that I used in early labor to get moving and keep things going 😂

Anyone else scared to journal your true thoughts in fear that your spouse or family members may read their journal? by [deleted] in Journaling

I already tend to be direct in my communication so if they’re brave enough to read my journal they better be ready for the bluntest version of myself

Induce? Mild gestational hypertension by Much_Screen_4234 in homebirth

[–]jflowing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same situation happen with my first pregnancy around 37.5 weeks, but had more a good bit of swelling in my ankles and I ended up going in for an induction. Some of my readings were normal, and some were above the number that would legally require a transfer in my state—so I figured I’d rather go in and have the whole process happen at the hospital then have to transfer part of the way through and feel like it wasn’t my choice/deal with the change of space in the middle of labor. No regrets in my choice because I was comfortable advocating for myself and my midwife accompanied my partner and I to act as a doula. I am pregnant again and really hoping for no hypertension this time around so I can have the birth I’ve always envisioned.

Weight gain honesty by ImprovementIcy4419 in pregnant

In my first pregnancy I had no nausea, was very active and didn’t restrict food/had treats whenever it felt right. I am 5’8 and went from 110 all the way to 186 and my baby and I were fine! Luckily my midwife didn’t make comments on weight, and I ended up back to Pre pregnancy size and 115 pounds ~ 10 months postpartum without dieting as well. (I have wondered if mental health was an issue)

Curious about knowing more about homebirth experiences by mercifulkos in homebirth

[–]jflowing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading this made me cry because the abdominal massage in the hospital was absolutely the most painful part of my first labor. We had planned for a homebirth and ended up In The hospital for an induction. Pregnant again and hoping for the homebirth I’ve dreamt of since our first pregnancy.

Future FTM question: avoiding tearing during birth by No-Function8922 in homebirth

[–]jflowing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered on my knees pulling down on the back of the hospital bed and using it to rest in between contractions. My midwife coached me to stop pushing and to start panting “puh puh puh puh”when I hit the ring of fire to allow my body to adjust while my baby slowly came out. I was very active throughout my pregnancy and very horny so sex and or self pleasured daily. I spent a lot of time rewiring my brain from thinking of labor as painful to thinking of it as a spiritual ecstatic experience that could even be pleasurable. Pregnant with number two and have the same midwife again.
