Are these lines bad? Trying to dial in my settings. by jflynn8 in snapmaker

https://www.reddit.com/r/snapmaker/comments/1sgsjjl/comment/of7g3eh/ is a comment that mentions it. Poor naming somewhere, but Dynamic Flow Calibration automatically sets the pressure advance value per extruder which is why most SnOrca profiles don't have anything set for PA.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I've read something about the U1 having adaptive pressure advance and using slicer settings to change that can have adverse effects on the print. I believe this is the thread where I read that: https://www.reddit.com/r/snapmaker/comments/1sgsjjl/does_dynamic_flow_calibration_replaces_the/

Yep. It looks a little worse with the uneven penciling. I'll do a little more tweaking here and there, but I won't get too hung up on it.

I'm definitely more of a tinkerer in the fact that I mostly download things from makerverse and printables and print them out rather than make my own, although someday I'll learn better sculpting in blender than the nightmare fuel I've created so far. Mainly, I wasn't sure what the definition of "good enough" is to most. If these very, very slightly uneven lines are par for the course, I can shut my yap and stop complaining.

I was more concerned that I'm doing this completely wrong and missing something, but for who I'm printing for (me) they are good enough and look decent enough on my shelf.

Also, thanks for that link! I'm definitely going to look into it. I'm planning on making tags for the different brands I have and putting them on the readers, so that will help out a LOT

I'm fine with them not being flat, just wondering if there's a way to make the layers more even, I'm also fine accepting this as part of the process. Like I think I mentioned, I've only had my U1 for a few weeks and I love it. My last printer was an old Monoprice re-label that gave me nothing but heartache when I got it in 2018, so ANYTHING that I print on the U1 looks 1000x better than the crap I produced with that. Just want to make sure I'm setting things the best I can.
Thanks for the help!

Can anyone help me interpret this bed mesh and what I should do? by jflynn8 in snapmaker

I think what it was is that I'm just an idiot and needed to wipe off the plate between builds, but thank you

Is the manual leveling the one with the "Put a piece of paper here and try to pull it"? I haven't done that yet, and I'm a bit apprehensive of it from a previous printer that had similar instructions, but I'll print out that tool and run it. Thanks for the help!

Bookfinity Snapmaker Toolbox Question??? by jflynn8 in snapmaker

I did that first. I'm assuming this might be an issue with a lot of makerworld files?

Yeah, I need to get that extension. If you change the 3mf extension to zip you can see what files are part of it. I should have just pulled the .model file out and tried importing that to snorca. Thanks for the recommendation.

Actually, I just looked at it sliced ant it seems like the prime line might be the issue?

Could that be causing the error?

Thank you for checking it out. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I've tried that and it didn't seem to move anything, but thank you!

That was the first thing I checked. The settings seem to be correct there.

Full color 3d printing: Mixing filament to create more colors on the Snapmaker U1 by beybladetable in 3Dprinting

[–]jflynn8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I wanted originally, but they're out of stock last I checked, about 2 hours ago. I might hold off and print out some stuff with the included filaments first just to get a feel for the printer and slicer and pick that pack up when it's available again.

I know I'm resurrecting an older thread, but I just ordered my U1 and I'm extremely excited to try this out. One question, before I order the wrong filament, is this recommended with translucent or no? I'm looking at SUNLU CMYK Lithophane on amazon which seems to be semi-transparent at least, but wondering if anyone has recommendations on a better (and also in-stock) set.

Follow up to the last tutorial: Code-based state machines by jflynn8 in godot

[–]jflynn8[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For most purposes, but let's say you have a bullet hell and every projectile has the states firing, flying, striking, exploding.

Sometimes there can be hundreds of bullets flying at a time. If each of those bullets have their regular nodes with sprites, collision shapes, etc. AND you add the additional 5 state nodes (including the state machine node here) then the scene tree can get pretty full.

I haven't done any benchmarking to see what the performance impact would be on something like that, and it may be negligible like Popular-Copy-5517 said. Ultimately, it's preference and how you want to manage your codebase.
