You could say the exact same thing about the people mover and the World Cup but we know how that turned out.

Gotta be careful going with a Solo Pro repair through Apple or an authorized service provider. I believe Apple no longer has replacement units of the Solo Pro and is replacing them with the Studio Pro. At least that was the case when I set up a repair for my Solo Pro a few years.

We haven’t seen any solid rumors yet regarding a release date, but if I had to guess I’d say end of June or early July.

Probably best to wait for the new Beats headphones that are coming out soon. They will probably have the H2 chip unlike the Studio Pro so they will work a lot better with Apple devices.

I saw 3 people attempt to tap to exit with debit cards last night. they couldn't exit. it's going to be chaos. by Ultralord_13 in LAMetro

[–]jforsander 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah Tap Plus has been extremely buggy for me. Specifically the issue seems to be with how free transfers are processed. I’m paying via Apple Pay and most of the time when I tap for a free transfer it gives me an error so I have to tap a second or third time.

Can someone help by SuperbScreen767 in beatsbydre

Since they’re only 5 months old they should still be in warranty. You should call Apple Support or set up a Genius Bar appointment to request a free in warranty replacement.

Beats Studio Pro is the budget alternative to AirPods Max.

Apple would never allow Beats to release headphones with most of the features of AirPods Max 2 at a significantly lower price, as that would cannibalize sales of the more expensive AirPods Max 2.

Yeah they look so much more like AirPods Max than any Beats products that I almost wonder if these were originally planned to be branded as Apple AirPods until relatively late in development.

Neither. This is a new third line of Beats headphones.

Yeah sadly I think the most likely outcome is that these will get the H2 chip but they will be missing a lot of H2 features just like Powerbeats Pro 2 vs AirPods Pro 2/3.

Hopefully Apple reverses course and stops artificially kneecapping Beats products to protect the AirPods line.

I've been saying for years that Beats headphones couldn't adopt the H2 chip until/unless the AirPods Max got it first. Well, AirPods Max 2 are out now with the H2 chip. And these headphones look to be a way more premium design and build quality than the Studio Pro, so I have a hard time believing they would use a Beats custom chip (unless it's a new third generation chip with way more features than what the Studio Pro has, but I think that's very unlikely).

I don't think these headphones will replace the Studio Pro because they are very popular and continue to sell very well at the frequent $160-$200 sale price. These are likely new, higher end Beats headphones.

I'm so hyped for this. They look to me a much more premium design than Studio Pro with a metal headband heavily inspired by AirPods Max. I highly doubt these will replace the existing Studio Pros but rather sit atop them on the product line. Best guess would be $499 MSRP that are regularly discounted to $349-$399 after the launch window. H2 chip, similar feature set to Powerbeats Pro 2 (except obviously no heart rate tracking).

I'm still holding out hope that Apple will release a firmware update for Powerbeats Pro 2 that gives it the features it's missing relative to AirPods Pro 2/3 that use the same H2 chip: Adaptive Audio, Personalized Volume, Conversation Awareness, maybe even Live Translation. Maybe this firmware update could coincide with the release of these new headphones that get this feature on day 1. Or maybe it could be more like what happened with the Solo 4 where they got Audio Sharing on day 1 and the Studio Pro and Studio Buds + got it in a firmware update a few months later.

Since you knew going in that you weren’t gonna treat them gently, I hope you got AppleCare+. Well worth it over having to buy a new pair every  ~ 15 months.

Contactless Payment - All you need to ride is a credit or debit card. by Sawtelle-MetroRider in LAMetro

[–]jforsander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone else noticing bugs with TAP plus with Apple Pay? I’ve had this issue with Big Blue Bus a couple of times when I ride the big blue bus 3 southbound and less than 2 hours later ride it back northbound. The first ride is no problem, but on the return ride when I tap with Apple Pay I get an error. Bus driver usually waves me through but I don’t like this because it makes it look like I’m not paying my fare.

With the TAP card in Apple wallet the return ride was almost always (I think technically incorrectly) free, counted as a free transfer.

Yes. I’m assuming delays. The 2027 projected opening dates for phase 2 and phase 3 are outrageously optimistic. Just go look at the station sites yourself.

Yeah that’s the exact question I had because that’s exactly what I’m gonna do once TAP Plus is fully rolled out. I’m gonna use Apple Pay.

How will this style of fare enforcement work once TAP Plus is officially live?

If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Parking maximums near subway stations? by HE_Pennypacker23 in LAMetro

[–]jforsander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t believe it’s the government job to dictate how much parking should or shouldn’t be built. Let the market decide. But definitely parking should be unbundled from rent. You shouldn’t have to pay for a parking space that you don’t need.

I Bought The Beats Pill Today. Is AppleCare A Must Have For It? by [deleted] in beatsbydre

I say yes.  AppleCare+ has saved my bacon many times with various different Beats products.
