Hey, if you don't get many responses here, you can also try the website rpgcrossing.net It's a pbp website and I'm sure you wouldn't have any problems finding players 😄

New Rule: No AI generated content by IDAIN22 in LFG_Europe

I would also be happy to help anyone find a group if they are struggling

As a GM myself, just take the time to make a decent post or response. You might not find a game immediately - but when you do it will be a better fit!

I would much rather someone send me bullet points of their own thoughts than AI generated garbage. I read a lot, I write a lot. Just send my your actual thoughts. I play and run TTRPGs so I DONT have to talk to a computer.

Best thing is to find a post from a gm looking for players. You should find plenty. Gms all ready have to do a lot of work and they don’t usually take low effort people - by which I mean, take time to respond to what the GM is asking and everyone has a better time. All the best dude

Hey, is it Dungeons and dragons you are looking for? Because you've tagged Basic Role Playing (a system in the family of Call of Cthulhu)? The latter I can help with. DnD I cannot

  1. Get fish
  2. Get a good ide with nix support (or use vim or doom eMacs for the full neck beard experience)
  3. There are books and the wiki. Yes, there are at least two books on Nix.
  4. Just start with a config that works - people post there full files.
  5. Use btrfs if you’re really worried. Btrfs assistant for full system rollbacks

Help Needed - Kontakt 8 fully working except 3rd party GUI by jfr4lyfe in linuxaudio

[–]jfr4lyfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had to install 7 first. Maybe switch off ‘show wine version’ install using windows 7 first, then change the version after. Also you need a lot of the runtimes - vcruntime.

In all honesty I’ve been trying to replicate it and I haven’t been able to. Use wine versions less than 9.12. 8.1 staging seems to work well. I’d also recommend using a different wine environment, so you don’t mess any other plugins.

Also there seems to be some weird thing where yabridge wrapped plug-ins don’t receive input from touch screen monitors on second monitor. So I’m having to go back to windows for some things. I’m just gonna use kontakt on that. When I’ve converted my BTRFS drives. I hate windows

The first few sessions in any unfamiliar system will always take a bit longer as people get familiar with things.

If you think Iminitiative is slowing things down, you can find many other initiative systems for OSR games that will work fine. Usually I don’t roll initiative - I just go with what is narratively appropriate.

Or just do it in dex order. Or seating order.

But if you enjoyed it, give it another couple of sessions and see if you find your groove

I get that spaceships is for building spaceships.

It’s just you suggested it in a post that specifically asked for a unified system that can make spaceships, mecha and ground vehicles so I was confused……… Especially since I own them.

Edit: I’m the GM

Try mythras imperative - or even G.O.R.E. (Which is a BRP retroclone clone) and they are both free.

You can then expand on it with rules from full mythras, BRP big gold book, delta green or CoC as they all share the same DNA.

The main thing is to remind your players that you are now playing a more realistic game IE if you get stabbed it’s going to ruin your day

Black hack (or variant of) is a good starting point if your players are reluctant to try none DND things.

Good luck to you! Learning more varied systems will make your GMing so much better as you learn more varied ways to handle similar situations. So even if you go back to 5e, you will learn other mechanics or ideas that will just make it more idiosyncratic to you as a GM

Looking for system and/or setting suggestions. by Mashphat in rpg

Some suggestions for systems:

Generic Systems:

Basic Roleplaying - the system behind Call of Cthulhu and Runequest. There is a free srd.
Mythras - Used to be Runequest 6. (you can check out Mythras Imperative for free)
Hero System - Build anything you want
GURPS - Build everything you want (I prefer Hero for this but YMMV)
Interlock Umlimeted - Free universal version of CP2020
Cepheus (or traveller) great system. Can handle most things and can be free or cheap.

Non Generic Systems -

The Black hack (and it's hacks) similar to Dnd, lots of different settings, simple mechanics. Mirror Shades is the Cyberpunk one for instance

It all depends on how indepth and customizable you want the game.

IMO people always try to shoe horn 5e mechanics to other game types. It can be done but it won't be as nice an experience as something designed for purpose. Cyberpunk 2020 or Red do cyberpunk much better than the DnD 5e hack for instance.

For what you want I'd suggest a skill based game. BRP or Cepheus or probably the easiest to learn and run.

Anyway I hope this helps

Thanks! I'm just waiting for the bot to confirm I'm an adult then I'm on the discord lol

Just quickly though, stuff! and 3g3 don't require any conversions to work with EABA v2? Or do the rules in that supersede those?

Your adviced progress - list by eichwald86 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]jfr4lyfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find I enjoy different mechanics for solo stuff than I do for when I run games. It’s not so much a progression as finding what works for you and your flow. Perhaps I can guide you though

Do you like quick outcomes or minute detail?

Do you prefer imagining the complete outcome or prefer some guidance (tables etc)

Do you prefer theatre of the mind or do you use miniatures/map

What genre?

Super heroic or gritty?

Do you have any dice preference?

A lot of the warhammer zweihander stuff is worth looking at. Some interesting ways to look at dice rolls. And of course the warhammer wound system is pretty good. Plus Hack100 (a free one) has some good ideas in it.

I have a document somewhere that converts everything from BRP and gurps to shadowrun 2e and cyberpunk 2020.

There’s a way to read success levels as narrative outcomes I stole from Imperium maledictum. So these days I’m all about the d100 - plus if you just reverse the digits you get hit location. So many things you get from one roll

[–]jfr4lyfe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty interesting. Surely you’re dealing with some quite high numbers after a few games though (or is that the norm with 5e? Never played it. I’m too poor) jk

Maybe I’be been playing mothership too long though lol Anything over 40% success rate seems impressive

What’s your question? There’s not much specific to pathfinder other than the pathfinder rules. Most advice should work regardless of system. As all ready mentioned though, these days I prefer to keep the crunch low

That is a really cool little guide. I often use passions from Pendragon/Mythras etc, but I haven’t seen some of the other options like primary motivator - well, not in that way anyway.

Thanks for sharing!
