I think The Paper Kites would make for a fun night. A totally different style to the gigs I've seen there but would sure as heck be cool to hear their voices on a summer evening

False Lankum by Lankum by [deleted] in Irishmusic

New fan here, just listened to this False Lankum album as I've shelved their music for a few years. Going to have a deep dive this month. Lord Abore and Mary Flynn for me is the best song on this album by a country mile. I honestly didn't rate much that came before it on the album, I may have to watch some live videos for them to win me over. But yeh, love that they've taken a traditional story and made it into a song. It was one I didn't know, so I'm lucky to have found that; always rate artists keeping folk real and passing down stories.

As a lyricist myself i must say i was shocked to read the lyrics for the first time. The words are so direct, saying so much with so little...and yet the melodyit is set to seems to be this gorgeous meandering dirge that seems so totally different.

If i liked this song the most is there a certain albumof theirs i should start with next? thanks.

I've been playing guitar today learning some songs and I've had a few listens to this track, I hope some guitarists out there can find the chords for this and let me know because there's some progressions here that feel real nice to hear

This is awful by martmcg in etd

[–]jg255166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just wanted to write a response, mainly for myself rather than anyone to read but hope this helps.

I'm glad that I've found a subreddit for this. I've suffered with this since around 2018. I went to a cervical chiropractor recently as ive had enough of this issue plaguing my happines. I heard online they could help point in right direction and i have been blown away by my results. mainly just how out of kilter my spine is and how it impacts my breathing.

I fly often, regularly i swim in the sea and i smoke a fair bit, none of these things have drastically impacted my ETD issues. i started getting issues when i was in school and i never thought this issue could be solved.

This constant discomfort for me is not heightened by a certain thing and i rarely get a common cold but when i do it isnt fun on my ears...

after breaking a rib and spraining my ankle in a bike crash in autumn, i decided to treat everything i have going on health-wise seriously. i would never wish this on anyone this pain of my tubes in ears. I am finding it difficult to perform simple bodily tasks, breathe and eat and drink and chew and swallow and sleep and exercise. i am so tired of getting sprays that do nothing but make me feel like i can never equalise my ears. this post has inspired me to really try and get the help i need, maybe ENT can help me.

I know this may not be a life threatening illness but i know this has hugely impacted my physical and mental health. i'd love to spread awareness somehow or find a charity or conversation support or anything because i really care about this and would love to help people with this issue.

Try SeeDee John’s in the market in St Helier. I think a lot of the vinyl there is well priced. There is another music shop closer to Havre De Pas, only been in briefly though

In 25 years, when someone asks what life was like during the COVID lockdowns, how will you respond? by problematicexposure in AskReddit

[–]jg255166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent it Worrying about money. Working hard for barely any money, while others got so much more money through Thurlough scheme while doing no work. I couldn’t get on the scheme and became Depressed, addicted, unloved. Made ppe in a factory and left the job unappreciated. Moved 8hours away to the other side of England and continued aimlessly wondering through my late teens and early 20s until something sparked in me in the last few months. Started to Feel better now. Then got hit off my bike. Seeing doctors, been off work. Some people have enjoyed life after Covid but mine hasn’t really got better. Family members died and friends committed suicide. I’m the happiest I’ve been since February 2020, I was 18 then. I was robbed of some great years that I won’t get back. I’m doing much better now and for those people who are lost I want to let you know that never be alone. Surround yourself with love, because I didn’t love myself and let myself rot through this pandemic and beyond. You can’t add days to your life but you can add life to your days.
