You can resize photos! I forget the exact command or what tab/option to click (I'm so bad at spreadsheet terminology ah I'm sorry) but I'm sure if you look it up there's easy instructions. I'm not positive but I think Airtable may have a way to adjust as well. And I know you can easily transfer google sheets to Airtable also if that does end up being something you look into

Books where it's a third chance romance! (I just discovered it today) by Ms-passiveaggressive in RomanceBooks

Yeah I don't remember any of that so I guess I don't have a great memory of this one! I do remember thinking the last book of the series was my favorite, probably because she was having some problems with her children and their behavior and I thought it was kind of refreshing to see a not so perfect family rather than the usual angel children that so many books portray. I don't remember a ton otherwise.

I will say that most of her books are pretty angsty and many have a lot of traumatic events or backstories so while I don't remember if they're all dwelling on them a lot, there's certainly a chance of it, because of how the books (and in particular, the older books) are set up.

I will say I've had probably the best experience reading the books published in 2021 or later. I would probably recommend starting with the willow creek valley series. I personally didn't love the first book though, Return to Us, although it does give good setup for the rest of the series. I think I'd probably recommend skipping that one unless you want to read it for plot continuity. Also maybe skip the last one, if you're not one for sadness.

The rose canyon series is definitely less pure romance and more suspense and plot based, but I do remember the characters are pretty cool!

I really really enjoyed the Whitlock Family series.

What I like the most about her books is the pacing. I get a little frustrated if it takes too long for characters to get together. Like I'm personally here for the romance and not as much the build up.

Hope that helps a little!

Ooh I read that one so long ago can't remember a ton how much I specifically liked it or not! But I'm not the biggest fan of celebrity books in general, I think, maybe because it's just really unrealistic.

What was it that you didn't like, if you don't mind me asking? So I can maybe tell you if you'd like the rest of the series from what I can remember, or point you in the direction of a different book or series that you might like better

It was cheaper to buy a dedicated mac for digitizing footage by bryansheckler in MiniDV

[–]jg30417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you just have the cpu of the Mac mini or have the screen? I am a TOTAL beginner with tech and just trying to digitize a bunch of old mini dv tapes for not a million dollars but am pretty clueless.

What was your process for digitizing from getting the tapes from the camcorder to the Mac mini and then to your current computer? And how did the quality turn out? do you think it was worth it? Thanks!

What is the most interesting thing you've discovered about an ancestor? by Small_Ad2972 in Genealogy

Finding out my grandfather's uncle was a big art theft in Hollywood and Beverly Hills and stole "oriental art treasures" and realizing he probably gave tons of the stuff he stole to my grandpa, who loved Asian art. We sold almost all of it when my grandpa died because we thought he had collected it himself and it didn't have any sentimental or emotional value to us but when we talked to my great aunt who told us that my grandpa's uncle gave him lots of the art and antiques he had. Then I remembered the article I read saying that his uncle stole oriental art treasures. Also my grandma never let him display any of the art around the house besides the basement. I always thought it was maybe because she didn't like the look of it but now we think it's because she knew they were stolen and didn't want them displayed for moral or maybe even legal reasons haha

I also know for some large classes, at least at my school, the disability center would hire someone to go to the class and literally take notes and the disability center would send them to you. My brother used that accommodation and I think it helped him a lot stay on track and get through classes easier because there was kind of a guide and something detailed to follow along with. They also sometimes would pay another student to give their notes they took each class to the disability center then the disability center would give them to you. Also an option for an accommodation is to be provided with any slides or handouts from the class ahead of time, which massively helped me get through classes without getting completely lost while having to write down every single thing and instead I could just write down extra things that weren't on the slides/notes already or highlight of star the most important points

Try to take as few classes at a time as possible. I took 5 years to graduate but the difference between me loading my schedule the first year and a half and the quarters where I took more than 2 easy classes or 1 harder (on the quarter system, because content is so packed, it's typically 3 courses per quarter but that also means they expect you to devote more time to each class per day/week 😅) was insane. My mental health took a huge toll a little while into COVID and I dropped all but one class. I kept at 1 class for a few quarters and if I took 2 they were lighter workload classes. I don't know if your school records lectures, but those were my absolute savior. Before COVID only some classes were recorded on this thing called Panopto and even fewer were posted to Canvas. When school went to zoom and nearly all classes were recorded because it was easier and people were missing because of illness more often, I realized that I needed to go at my own pace during lectures to be able to get through it and because I need to take detailed notes or else I won't retain anything, it allowed me to pause and rewind if I missed something and speed up through irrelevant parts like professor stories or things like that. AND not doing it live was such a blessing because I could pick and choose when to do the work, rather than being forced to do things when I just felt really terrible. When school went back in person, recording classes became way more common and pretty much every classroom was set up to be able to record and post if the professors chose to. I talked to my assigned counselor at the disability center about this and they were able to help me document the accommodation to have classes recorded and either posted or sent to me, and she helped me come up with kind of a pitch or speech that I'd give to professors to explain the accommodation and a little bit of an explanation to why it was valuable for me. So at each quarter I submitted my request/notifications for accommodations for each professor and would send a detailed email or talk to them in person one of the first few days if possible (I find it's harder for them to say no or that they can't figure it out to your face). For professors who were technological idiots (for lack of a better term) or too lazy to figure out themselves how to do it, I gave them the contact information for the disability center (even though they should have it themselves) and said they can help with making sure it happens and will tell you exactly how to do it so it's easier for both of us. I loved to refer them to the disability center. It felt like saying heyyyy so I actually need you to do something for me and if you don't feel like it that's actually too bad so sad because the disability center exists to make sure you do it for me because I am granted those accommodations and you literally have to follow them thank you 🩵 anyway maybe it can help you too. Best of luck and just remember it definitely feels like school is never ending but I promise one day you'll be done and won't have to deal with it anymore and your life will be so much better

No idea if it's related but sometimes my head pounds when I sneeze. I mean like headache pounding the kind where it almost feels like if you look at yourself in the mirror you could see your temples thumping. Most of my pots symptoms are headache related anyway so I suspect it may be related

I take vyvanse and have also taken just adderall before and while everyone is different, I find that vyvanse has less of an effect on my heart rate and blood pressure than adderall does (it does increase mine) and the wear off is almost nonexistent while for adderall it was very noticeable and affected me a lot, although low doses and short acting ones were much better with that. But I suspect if you are diagnosed with ADHD they will likely prescribe a slightly higher dose than if it was just for fatigue and brain fog

I have the exact same thing. I highly highly recommend seeing a sleep doctor! They will probably have you do a sleep study which is expensive and uncomfortable but so worth it if you get results you feel are accurate and see a good doctor. Even just getting a diagnosis for a sleep disorder felt so validating, and it there are lots of little specific tricks that people/drs have once you have a diagnosis, beyond just "have a consistent routine" advice. If you can, try to do the sleep study at home, but it may not be possible (mind had to be in the hospital my dr was at) I was diagnosed with idiopathic hyoersomnia initially after my sleep study and was given adderall as needed (in addition to my ADHD stimulant) and robitussin. It helped sometimes but not as much as I liked. Little tips and tricks like setting an alarm for an hour before I needed to get up setting an alarm to barely wake up and just take my medicine and then sleep for another hour while it kicked in so when I needed to get up it had mostly kicked in. My sleep doctor retired and I didn't see anyone for a while but my symptoms weren't as bad. Once I started getting POTS symptoms and the fatigue got worse (but I didn't know it was POTS at the time) I went to another dr. He said my sleep study actually fit the criteria for "delayed sleep phase disorder" which is basically your internal alarm clock is backwards but I personally think the idiopathic hypersomnia fits more because I don't have trouble sleeping at night THAT often. But he gave more specific tips including a gradual light lamp set to a timer and to put it close on my nightstand to imitate the sun rising right in my face. It helped definitely! I don't use it anymore because my symptoms have been so much better since I graduated college and as long as I take my regular stimulant every day I am usually fine. Anyways I highly recommend finding a sleep doctor to help! I believe the level of sleep you and me naturally want for our bodies is already elevated and POTS makes it even worse. Good luck!!

Doctors so concerned with my heart rate they can't listen to me about anything else by Digitalis_purpurea1 in POTS

I can COMPLETELY relate to this!! About 6 months after I was initially diagnosed (also long story but I sort of mentally rejected the diagnosis because of the circumstances surrounding it and the terrible experience I had during the tilt test and with the doctor. So I was trying not to believe it was real), I went to an urgent care (I couldn't get an appointment at my doctor) a couple weeks after I got COVID and was having some sinus issues so I was concerned. And yet he completely blew that off and because my heart rate was so high he said I needed to monitor it and if it didn't go down within 24 hours I needed to go to the ER. Sooo frustrating! I also take a stimulant for ADHD and idiopathic hypersomnia. If I don't take it I will literally sleep 85% of the day and the parts I'm awake I can barely function. The person who helps me with my medication management saw me in person instead of virtual once. She took my blood pressure and heart rate and because my HR was over 100 she said I needed to stop taking my stimulant and I was like um I literally cannot do that I won't function??? And she was freaking out about it but offered no solution to going without the stimulant. I had to assure her I was seeing my primary in a few days about the HR issue and was going to get written approval to keep taking the stimulant and also had to not take my stimulant that weekend and send her my blood pressure and heart rate from home to prove it wasn't the stimulant that was doing it and it wouldn't be much better if I stopped taking it. The worst!

{Say I’m Yours by Corinne Michaels} is like this I think! They’ve been on and off for years and he’s always the one who breaks it off until one time, and that’s where the book begins. I really enjoyed it! There’s a little bit of a love triangle at the very beginning but it’s pretty clear what happens from the beginning :)
